Please help me find a manga that fulfills ALL of the following criteria!

Requirements:

The protagonist should be FEMALE.

She should be a tactical, strategical and/or logical thinker, who solves her problems rationally.

She should be shown accomplishing great things, of significance to society/humanity at large.

She should not be overwhelmed by angst/romance/emotion, or if she is, it should only be rarely.

She should not be concerned with romance, or at least, not primarily.

The plot of the manga should not only be about romance, even if romance is there.

There should be NO ecchi fanservice or trashy sexualization of women (or men, for that matter).

Any genre EXCEPT ecchi/smut is welcome. I'll say it again: NO ECCHI.

Examples:

Saiunkoku Monogatari
Guardian of the Sacred Spirit

I would be especially happy to find a protagonist that's like the female version of Eumenes in Historie... That's the kind of thinker I'm ideally looking for. But of course, other kinds of thinkers/strategists are also welcome!

So, any takers? biggrin

Thanks in advance!

liar game? First of all the blonde is a guy, second the girl is kind of a air head the exact opposite of what's asked here. I don't think

Go watch Juuni Kokuki, and give the protagonist a few episodes.

I don't have a recommendation (sorry ^^); but I just wanted to clarify about the protagonist of Liar Game. She's not really an 'airhead'; and as the story progresses, begins to think logically and help out the guy (who devices most of the plans). Contrary to what lemondude said, she is NOT the exact opposite of what the OP is asking for. In fact, she fits all of tartufo's criteria except the first one. While she isn't stupid by any means, the primary thinker / strategist is the male supporting character.

Sorry for this long (and useless) rant! biggrin

Jormungand
Except whatever she's doing probably isn't for the good of humanity... but her goals aren't clear yet.

Well...
It's all on a smaller scale, so there's no "contribution to humanity",
but I think that Sayoko from Kisshou Tennyo is definitely a strategical person.
Or would manipulative be a better fit? laugh

I'm not sure, it's been a while, but maybe Tetsuwan Girl?

NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind - I think this fits all criteria.
Shion no Ou - Not accomplishing great things for society at large.
Mirai Nikki - More like ruining society at large, but oh well. And I call bullshit on its listing as ecchi. She's also not the viewpoint character, although she's certainly a protagonist.
Edison Fantasy Science - Fits all criteria, but not much scanlated.

On other people's recommendations:
Deus Ex Machina contains some fairly blatant fanservice. I enjoy it, but I find the fanservice obnoxious and I imagine you'll find it a million times more obnoxious than me. Plus I wouldn't call her all that tactical or strategically minded.

Dance in the Vampire Bund is 'ecchi', sure - but I still don't understand why it worries anyone for this series. I honestly don't notice it - sure, I see that they're naked, but it always seems quite well justified to me (as opposed to being trashy wank-material) - and it's equal-opportunity nakedness. It fits your other criteria wonderfully.

Can I clarify something on your definition of 'ecchi'? I understand the no-fanservice thing, but does it also include no-sex or more generally no-nudity? Because you can have sex and nudity without it being dumb fanservice, but it all gets lumped in as ecchi even if it's only a small part of the story.

@Aikanaro, thanks so much for the recs AND for paying actual attention to my no-ecchi rule!

By ecchi, I just mean the pointless sexualization and/or fanservice that often occurs in manga. I'm actually okay with sexual/mature content, PROVIDED it is tasteful, plot-relevant and has psychological/emotional depth. What I can't stand is the... 'trashy' sensibility of ecchi mangas, if you know what I mean. So 'mature' content is okay, just as long as it isn't ecchi! By ecchi, I just mean the stuff that normally does get labeled as ecchi - you know, art that draws pointless attention to womens' bodies as sexual objects, without contributing anything of worth to the actual story.

For example, Homunculus is a manga with explicit sex in it, but I wouldn't call it ecchi by a long shot, because the sex is relevant to the plot and actually provides a deeper characterization of the characters - which is why I love this manga! On the other hand, I can't stand ecchi in which women are depicted as wearing consistently revealing clothes, or there are pointless up-skirt/down-shirt shots, or most of the female characters are either sensationally big-breasted or loli-types. Gag. dead

I hope this explanation helps other reccers as well! THANK YOU ALL!

YOU SHOULD READ HUO FENG LIAO YUAN!
read and read until you are introduced to shan wu ling. she is the one you are looking biggrin
however, in this manga, you won't know who's the protagonist, who's the antagonist. they all act according to their purpose, and clashes is a normal thing to happen.

oh, sorry, forgotten about another female.
how about balalaika of Black Lagoon? her mannerism leaves a good impression (not really intelligent, but she do shows tactical prowess). her accomplishment is only saved her platoon and made them the most frightening party at certain criminal infested city. no romance here.

Beatrice the Golden Witch! -> Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 1: Legend of the Golden Witch

She and the male lead spent 80% of the time on how to strategize leading either one to death. laugh
