Kare Kano has a similiar set up like Special A, Two super perfect students are first rivals (Well at least in the heroine's point of view) and then fall in love.

Yeah, but the feel is completely different-much more angsty/dramatic in lots of parts, and the actual relationship dance is much shorter than SA's.

Seconding Koukou Debut - the plots totally different, but the feel of the manga (atmosphere, structure, use of humor, etc.) is much closer to Special A. Lovely Complex is another one worth a shot-opposites attract, great dynamics among all the characters, strong supporting cast, tons of laughs. Seconding Ouran for the same reason, though Ouran's plot arc is less cohesive than SA or LoveCom. If you end up liking Ouran, then also give Wallflower a try.

Don't know 'cause the atmosphere is more toned down then Special A, but you may likeNodame Cantabile. The couple aren't competitors, but they're both super talented. He's the cold type, she's the space cadet-but the relationship dance plays out very differently from SA.

Kimi Wa Girlfriend is adorable and short, so it's worth a read regardless.

Ack story took all my suggestions >_< You might also like Perfect Girl Evolution. Nothing at all like Special A plot wise with alot less romance but it has the whole wacky reverse harem thing going on. Really funny too imo tho I havent read the latest chapters.

KAICHOU WA MAID-SAMA!
This manga is way better than Special A, at least that's my opinion.
It has the same competitiveness, but better art.
I'd reccommend this manga any day! ^__^

Venus Capriccio - definitely has its similarities - tomboyish, feisty girl and a cool, caring guy. To me it seemed like a slightly toned-down Special A, but unique enough to be enjoyable.
