Before I discuss the new poll, do you guys remember the series of demographic polls? For each poll, the top 5 most suggested series (on the forum) were put on the public poll. Well, here's the file that contains how many suggestions each series got:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/demo_poll_results.xls
(Note: Because of the polls, we realize that the demographics of different series need some work, so it may be that in the future, certain series will be located in different demographics)
This new poll about anime adaptations and how you like them was suggested by our member Regnak.

It is my pleasure to announce the grand opening of website Inside Scanlation!
As you all know, one of MangaUpdates' focuses is on scanlations. Inside Scanlation details the history of the scanlation process. There are articles about different sectors of the scene, from speed scanlations to Lurk to our own site here. There are also interviews with various sites, groups, and organizations, including an IRC interview with me and Manick, njt from MangaHelpers, and even something from TokyoPop. Even if you have only a cursory interest, I highly recommend you check out the site.
Two cool things I want to point out.
Inside Scanlation is the work of Gum, who compiled all this data into the baby you see now. It has been a work in progress for the last 3 years, and now it has seen the light of day. May we see more updates in the future!
Fun and silly poll for once! Suggested by ExzyruSxxx.

Yes - votes: 7253 (55.8%)
No - votes: 5750 (44.2%)
There were 13003 total votes.

The new poll's slightly ambiguous, but oh well. Interpret it however you like. It was suggested by our member icassop.
If you're wondering, for instance, lots of people say that Ichigo 100% had a bad ending, but would you still read it regardless? (I personally liked it though, so screw you guys.)

No, but I want to - votes: 2493 (24.2%)
There were 10292 total votes.

That's a decent amount of people that have been to Disneyland or any of the other related places! (By the way, I loved the Halloween themed fireworks for Disneyland when I went last weekend)
If you can see this, you're officially on the migrated server. It's not faster or anything than the old one, but it had to be done.
If you posted something just after I exported the database, it might be missing. In that case, please post it again, and we're sorry for the inconvenience.
We're not 100% done yet... so some things might come and go and break over the next few days, but we'll keep at it till we've got it finished.
Thanks for your patience.

For those of you following the MangaHelpers events, they have released a FAQ explaining more details about the draft proposal. Head on over to give it a read, and learn more about the issue.
It appears that the leak caught them by surprise, and they weren't able to coherently deal with the issue in such a short short amount of time (with the release of the initial explanation post). I've read their FAQ and find their idea intriguing. Depending on how it is managed as well as the reaction of publishers, it could be a very unique opportunity for some in the community. I will reserve my judgment for a future date.
Also, the MU server was down for a few hours due to another bad power cable. As you can see, we are back up. This is not related to the downtime we will be having as we move our servers during the next few weeks, as discussed [sitelink=news.html?id=518]here[/sitelink].
Sorry, I have like 5 minutes to do all this poll stuff because I'm going to Disneyland for the first time in about 8 years.
Edit:
Poll has been changed so that it applies to ANY of the Disney resorts in the world (which was what I originally meant in the first place, but I guess some people took it a little too literally. As a side note, I attended the one in California, as I go to school in UCLA

Very close race between Paradise Kiss and Kimi wa Pet... And to comment on Nodame Cantabile, the series is ending in a month or two.
Later, I will be posting the results of our manga suggestions thread.
As you may have already heard, we have received a number of reports of some sort of business proposition between Viz and Mangahelpers. At this point, it appears that the information was leaked in draft form, and hasn't actually been proposed directly to Viz.
Before getting into the details, we ask that everyone please maintain an open mind. The MangaHelpers community has been around for a long time, and before jumping to conclusions, please make sure to get all the facts.
The news looks to have been first reported via a negative analysis by the scanlation group FoOlRulez. At this time, this seems to be the most in-depth information source regarding the business plan.
The following are quick links to the proposed email and business plan, and the official response from mangahelpers themselves.
A link to a topic in our forums discussing this.
Thanks to woxxy for reporting this information.
All,
Our host, Layered Tech, is moving data centers. Because of this, we will need to move all of our services, websites, and databases over to the new data facility.
This will happen in small bits over the next two weeks. We are sorry for any downtime or inconveniences this may cause.

It has been confirmed that USUI Yoshito, the creator of Crayon Shin-chan is dead after falling 120 meters (in the mountains) and sustaining damage to the lungs and other areas, which probably occurred sometime in the afternoon of September 11th.
There are plans for two more chapters of Crayon Shin-chan, as USUI Yoshito submitted the art for two chapters before his death. The anime series still has an unknown status.
