genuinely shocked at how much i enjoyed this! read this after seeing someone say it's got some similar elements as cherry boy, that girl (which it absolutely does - crossdressing yandere character, a main character who's afraid of the opposite sex but with a much more shoujo vibe). this is dark and horror at points but the exploration into the messed up psyche of the extremely abusive yuri (the adopted name of yul) was absolutely fascinating. as an aside, i'm iffy about how crossdressing/gender non-conformity is treated here. definitely underpinned with tones of queerphobia but that's another discussion.

the twist were well-written (the very end did surprise me)! and the general eeriness was portrayed fantastically in the art. very good use of panelling, shadows, and color. i will say, though, perhaps the magnitude of yul as a character has outweighed all the other ones. there was an intense focus on his obsessive loneliness and poor family life (though there should've been more elaborated on his sister) that we don't get much development in other relationships/characterizations.

i also was not the biggest fan of the fl (sian) & ml's relationship. they were cute i guess but i just didn't like how he was so shitty in the beginning & how the 180 personality flip wasn't really explained well. thus their relationship just seemed secondary almost? not a lot of chemistry idk. best case scenario tbh was sian ending up w neither of them but alas.

overall a really captivating read with a solid ending. (though i would enjoy seeing more of yul's later life)

That word explained my 3-hour binge read of this story.
Like they said, it's grippingly and satisfyingly toxic. So good.
The twist blew my mind. Everything was so new to me.

Totally recommend this anytime.

I usually go for yandere MLs, but blondie has a huge character development. And I just noticed after rereading it that Sian is very transparent with her feelings, she feels scared always with Yul, and she’s able to be herself and is always looking in love when she’s with Yujin.

It’s refreshing to see a main character that has some common sense and feelings, really thought she’ll end up with a yandere character since that’s the trend and I was about to drop the series but thankfully not. Great ending!

So I really liked this and couldn't stop reading it, but it took a different direction than I thought it would.

If you are reading this review before hand take it as your trigger warning for self harm and gore in the manhwa. That being said this was VERY good. It snuck up on me. The first few chapters felt like a fun little gimmick and then things start to suddenly unfold all at once. The ending was really intense. It all got really real. Im a sucker for that kind of story telling so while it was a rollar coaster of emotions for me at the end of the day i think it was very good and well written.

If you’re wondering if you should read this, you should! I’m not sure why but I’ve been putting off reading this for a long time and when I did finally read this, I have come to realize that this is one of my favorite manhwa of all time!
