MC is a reincarnator who powers himself up while hatching devilish schemes in order to reach the top. The art is great, the MC is badass, and there are plenty of exciting fights. However, the chapters often feel quite short, which can make waiting for new chapters quite painful. It faithfully adapts the novel, which is complete and an excellent read also.

Unfortunately, the MC takes almost a complete 180° personality shift around ch. 35, suddenly acting nicer to every character, turning into a shounen MC--dense to love and reacting more emotionally to most situations, and forgetting or reprioritizing his goals in ways that are completely out of line with his previous character. Nearly everything becomes dumbed down at this point, losing much of its initial appeal. It was sad to see.

Bad translation, every other sentence there is an error in spelling or context, the main character is portrayed as a genius as well but his actions is that of a dim person.

I know a 9 is too much for this story but the art style the flights scene and the MC character make it worth the read ,I rated it 9 just to make you read , believe me it's worth it, top 3 Chinese manhwa so far for me

I enjoyed this manhua. However, I can say with confidence that it's definitely not a masterpiece. Here are the reasons:

1. MC has evil intent but circumstances always intervene so that his evil plans fail. He wants to kill innocent people but fails due to accidental happenings. Example: Oh also he turns into a good guy later which is ridiculous. A guy who has been a ruthless, callous, cold-blooded sociopath suddenly turns into a goody-2-shoes after being "moved" by a girl? Bull-fucking-shit. That literally never happens. The "heart magic" was some ridiculous plot contrivance to begin with, but later on he just does a full heel-face turn and becomes a good guy. WTF.
2. Deus ex machinas.
3. The MC is actually pretty hot-headed at various moments, saying things like "I'm a demonic cultivator! I will never back down! I've already died once so I'm not afraid of dying again!". So basically, an idiot MC. Problem is that most of the time he acts like a rational, cool-headed guy too, which is how he's described by other characters. So there is this jarring incongruence between how he acts most of the time (cool-headed, rational, calculating) and how he acts in dramatic moments (hot-blooded, loyal, idealistic, spiteful).

I find it odd that the MC is somehow supposed to be this genius manipulator but also fails to see that his adopted child was plotting to betray him. Also lots of moments in this manhua where the MC is completely clueless to the people around him. Like when that should have been a pretty big clue that something was up, I feel.

And the MC's motivations are just...all over the place. At the beginning it was revenge, now it's about making the Luo family great again, then it's about "becoming stronger", etc. All just feels very inauthentic. Can't really see any good reason for the MC to change his motivations at the drop of the hat like that.

So, all in all, definitely not a masterpiece. I mean you can probably guess from the first chapter which is the most generic opening chapter ever for a xuanhuan (MC finds super-OP book, gets attacked by everyone, betrayed by his closest companions etc).

Well, I still enjoy it though. I just read chapter 118 and I really liked it.

MC was a demonic cultivator in his previous life (aka professional douchebag), dies due to betrayal and all good stuff, and ends up being resurrected in previously goody-two-shoes body.

The previous owner of the body had a puppy-like love/loyalty to his master, so it kinda rubs it to him, the same deal happens with most of the friendly faces he finds himself with, so it "tames him out" a little bit, due to it, even if he cultivates a "factually evil" technique, he doesn't end up exactly like his previous self, since the circumstances that he finds himself in forces him to do better.

Outside of that, it follows most cliches of the genre to a T, he kills people to not leave traces, a bountiful number of "arrogant young masters" waiting to trouble him, ancient peerless treasures flying around like flies just waiting for him to pick it up with no problem whatsoever, a bunch of trash talk to fill the space with and all the jazz you can expect from it.

This is one of best manhua out there. Manhuaplus has done good translation.

I actually really like the MC. He’s not a good person but he’s loyal to those who deserve it and shows no mercy to those who do him wrong. He has actual self control and isn’t after every female he lays his eyes on like most MCs.

A guy that practices Demonic cultivation is as usual betrayed by his trusted ones, dumb of him to trust evil people..., in any case, he gets transmigrated into a weak boy, so far copy paste of other 40 stories. The good part is that the MC doesn't turn suddenly good or anything of the sort, but the body he inherits is in love with his master, this forms a kind of geas on him that forces him to act in the interest of his master. I found this solution quite good, he isn't a particularly good guy but is forced to act in some aspects as a decent person, it works very well and justify many of his morally gray choices and also why he doesn't just go to the dark zone or repeat his previous life. The MC is the main appeal of the manhua as you can see since the story is very generic and unoriginal, RvP20 already describes him well enough.
Unfortunately this was going great till an annoying brat appeared and the MC goes all mellow and good guy for no reason.
I still have hopes for this one but it's not looking a good as it did at first.

Edit: The story picks up with the MC's twisted personality, a sort of mix of a bastard and someone who has a personal code of beliefs, he doesn't look twice before killing, using and conning his enemies (and it takes little to become one) but is somewhat fair to those that side with him. It's back in course. A good story.
