If you think this webtoon is bad, you missed the point of it.

I usually hate when people say stuff like my title, but in this case, it's just so accurate. All the bad criticism for this Webtoon is focused on the depiction of male characters - when the whole point of the story is to call out the toxic tropes in the Shoujo genre. The illusive man following you from the shadows to protect you in your time of need - is an overbearing stalker. The over-powered tough guy who can beat everyone doesn't value human life, the rich guy who solves all his problems with his money has the personality depth of a Toast and the womanizing pretty boy who changes his way for true love left behind an array of broken hearts of women who deserved better even if they weren't the main character. Sure, they are caricatures of these tropes and therefor very extreme versions but that's what parodies are all about.
Honestly, I wish I could force everyone who mainly reads Shoujo to read this as well just so they don't get the wrong idea about the way romance is depicted in material meant for young women. What a great contrast to all these shoddy "MC falls in love with their abuser after he apologizes bs" that's out there.

Wish we had more series like this showing women being decisive, assertive, and independent without needing trash males fawning over her. The main character is a boss who actually makes decisions for herself and takes actions accordingly rather than just letting things happen to her. It also calls out all the toxic tropes so prevalent in shoujo works.

Got to my Top 5

I'm reading mangas and manhwas for 15 years now. This one is still ongoing.. but as it is right now it got to my Top 5!

I love how strong and independed the MC is and how she utilizes what she's got (yes, strong AND intelligent, kind but NOT naive. After all.. she is a villainess.. <smirk>😉!
And I love how all the personalities of the usual typical male-main-leads are portrayed how they usually really would if this was real life.
I mean if a woman who has any self respect towards herself - as a woman - would ever get across a damn good looking showinistic guy (like what most ML are), she wouldn't even think of letting such a guy touch her! Because no matter how good looking a person is, if his personality is s***, then he/she's s***. No husband material.
So in other words, although this is fantasy, it is realistic an encouraging for all the young girls out there to respect themselves and that's really rare in mangas/manhwas (even if the mc is strong they mostly still don't have self respect at some point (because of trauma or what ever)...)

This manhwa is REFRESHING.

So far so good!

It's too early to give this webtoon a 10/10, but i've really been enjoying the various antics our main characters are up to (the maid, the villainess reborn, the dad, the fluffy werewolf, the book heroine). Everyone's hilarious and unexpected. Every chapter surprises me like a breath of fresh air.

The premise of having 4 terrible male leads is A+. I'm so over the toxic, unrealistic shoujo trope of "cruel jerk with a heart of gold for his true love." Like nah, love alone doesn't guarantee happily ever afters. Relationships take virtues (e.g. patience, communication, flexibility) that these hopeless main males often lack. So yeah, it's awesome finally having a series that points out the dumb nature of terrible male leads

I made the mistake of reading one of the bad reviews here in mangaupdates, and was put off into reading it at first but then thought better of it and gave this piece a chance. IT IS SO FUNNY! I've had my share of isekai fodder, and I kid you not, this is so hilarious and the FL IS A BAMF. And kudos to the scanlators because their translations add to the depth, personality, and hilarity of the characters. The pop culture references are awesome, the FLs decisions are soooo refreshing and I can't wait to read more. Give it a chance, form your own opinions about it ;D

I love Melissa!

I found this manhwa irritating at first. Aside from the main character Melissa, everyone is irredeemably obnoxious. Which is the point since she is a villainess and the four MLs hate her in varying degrees, but it doesn't make a fun read. What annoys me the most however is the delivery of the story, where the main narration is constantly interrupted by long-winded internal monologues that's basically just a repetition of the same point.

It gets so much better as the story moves along, however. More characters are introduced who are really interesting, like Nine (the real ML), Yuri (the original FL), and even this hilarious money-grubbing maid Yona. And Melissa becomes even more likable and even cooler, I can't possibly describe how much I love her (I'm basically joining her fandom along with Nine and Yuri). The plot is neat and there is also an allusion to a deeper meaning behind Melissa being reincarnated as a villainess. Many reincarnated novels often pass it off as something that just happens and leaves it at that, so I always appreciate it when authors make good use of it by coming up with an explanation that helps strengthen the world building.

I have been reading a lot of villainous stories and this one is one of the better written ones. The FL isn't a push over and she doesn't choose the path to become a marysue. She instead chooses to just be a decent human being who feels intense hatred for idiots trying to ruin her life, and compassion for those who treat her kindly.

While she does have a lot of attitude it is nice to see that her attitude is because everyone around her treats her poorly, and not just because she is a jerk for no real reason. When people are not treating her like dirt she has a cute side that dare I say, can even seems sweet in those heartfelt moments. I enjoy seeing characters with layers on their personality, and I hope the author will continue to round out her character with more emotions.

Right now the ML is shy and sweet, but I am seriously hoping they round out his character as well to make him less of an ornament for the FL, and more of a complementary duo to her. I would love to see the characters feed off of each others personalities if the author does decide to flush out their personas.

The Villainess The Plot Deserves (Ch 46)
by dragonlord7012

Most SI into a villain role, tend to follow certain troupes. The most egregious being the "stealing" of the harem, and the MC being brianless outside of their future knowledge, and completely unable to notice people falling for them. While I cannot say it seems to be avoiding all of these, it gleefully blasts the first one into pieces. The male harem, is clearly awful , and the Villainess gleefully opposes their worst tendencies, that when not viewed under the rose tinted glasses of "romance" are pretty damning.

The MC is energetic, and pro-active. The Protagonist actually seems like she has a personality other than "All-loving-protagonist" at times. I wish there was more, as there are some common tropes left to be avoided, but overall it's a strong start. Do recommend.

The MC is petty, cunning, but nonetheless extremely charming! It’s really refreshing to have a female lead like this.

The story so far at 24 chapters has been really funny and progressing at a good pace. Am looking forward to more

So far there only has been 36 chapters. Looking at your typical romance shojo webtoon manhwa with the fantasy empire/kingdom settings, I feel that the story has just only began.

But so far, I do love how the story going. As you know, there has been already several isekai webtoon manhwa where the main characters turned into villains. At those manhwas, the female characters usually will end up attract those she tried to avoid in the beginning. Just name it: Doctor Elise, The Villain's Stepmother, The Villain's Ending is Death, etc.

But this one? I love it that she is truly able to avoid those she wanted to avoid. She wanted to be loved, but not begging for it, like the original Mellissa did in the beginning of the story. She didn't look for it, but she found and gained new love by being honest to herself. She's blunt and aggressive, but I definitely LOVE this part of her. Sometimes there are really people who we wanted to tell to "f*** off" right? But because of some circumstances we might not be able to say it. Mellissa filled this part, and helped people by being blunt and aggeessive.

Yes, definitely love this so far. I hope it will be going good between her and Nine.
