Once upon a time, there existed a giant tree that was the source of mana. A war, however, caused this tree to wither away, and a hero's life was sacrificed in order to take its place. Grieving over the loss, the goddess disappeared unto the heavens. The goddess left the angels with this edict: "You must wake me, for if I should sleep, the world shall be destroyed." The angels bore the Chosen One, who headed towards the tower that reached up unto the heavens. And that marked the beginning of the regeneration of the world.
Colette is the next Chosen of Mana to undertake the Journey of Regeneration in order to regenerate the dying world of Sylvarant. On the Day of Prophecy, Colette receives the oracle at the Martel Temple and thus began her journey to heaven. Together with her two childhood friends Lloyd and Genis, her teacher Raine and the mercenary Kratos hired to protect her, they set off on a journey to regenerate the world.

If you've never played the game or anything, it might not be as engaging of a manga, but if you have some idea about the story, you'll probably be able to appreciate it better. It's pretty fast paced, but faithful to the original game. It also shows some of the goofier / funnier aspects of the characters.

I love the artwork for this manga as well. Ichimura does an amazing job capturing all the characters into her lovely and adorable art style! For me, I read the entire thing because of the artwork,

The last volume (EXLoad) has got to be my favorite part of the manga though. I loved how it went in depth to the characters. It even shows some scenes not shown in the game as well.

What a stinking piece of garbage this was. A complete waste of my time. The plot was laughably bad, the characters sucked big time, the world which in this took place was just plain stupid. Mixing scifi and fantasy like that just doesn't work at all. You can clearly see where this mangas roots comes from, an rpg. (nope, haven't played it, and from seeing this I probably never will) In this form layed out exactly as an game just wont work, at all.

Art was fine, thats it. Probably one of the worst mangas I've read in this genre really. I could rant on all day about how bad this is but I wont. Suffice to say, it sucked.

Nice Game, so-so manga. Well I liked it but I wouldn tread it again. It's nothing impressive and if you dont know the game you may find it abrupt at some point and a little inconsinstent - ik something is missing.
The EX volume though is very good. The stories in it fill in many holes and allow you to rediscover the character - or discover them corectly. I enjoyed them very much
Main Story: 7.7
EX : 8.3

Overall 8
