With the setting of Edo, we have that the more a wealthy a city grows, the more people will gather, and as a side effect more seeds of discord can easily be found.

On one hand we have Shusuke, a slacker "almost" apprentice of a merchant with a rather large mouth who is pretty skilled in conversational skills and reading into people's intentions. In the other hand, we have Rie, a gracious yamato nadeshiko who is actually an expert swordswoman who has dedicated her life to her skills, who works as a benriya or hired hand / jack of all trades.

What have these two in common? Well, besides their very own interesting backgrounds, we have that the two of them are actually quite indebted towards the same person, which is Shuusuke's merchant "mentor" & Rie's landlord.

Was disappointed by this new series by Kawashita Mizuki but then I realized that she was just the artist and not the author for the series.
Typical shonen ridiculously strong female lead and smart but super weak male lead combination.
None of the characters interest me nor the murder mystery plot.
Most mainstream manga readers will enjoy this though

Or Detective Conan if you prefer that. Smart kid detective with a female bodyguard go around solving mysteries with flimsy evidence and gotcha tactics. Similar to Detective Conan, there's a secret crime organization behind it all that is likely to never get resolved properly. The action scenes are very average and uninteresting. What makes this series readable is its decent art and the promise of revealing the secret of behind our main character's backstories.

aha! new title from kawashita mizuki !

hmm another heroine with long black hair...
i guess it's already became her habit to create main character with long black hair.

too bad it's not a weekly release...
but i guess with more loose deadline, she won't be rushed and she can concentrate more on the quality.
i hope this one can last longer than ichigo 100% and her other series.
and i hope with her colaboration with another writer, this time she can create a better ending for her manga.

Though this is my personal opinion, I first thought I had come back in time when looking at the art. But it's all wrong! The art is actually a part of the story : if you look carefully, you'll notice details saying this ain't old school's art, it blends with the era in which the story takes place.
For clever use of art, I give 4.5/5
The story is very interesting : not too slow developing mysteries, not too much action, and also the interactions between the two characters whose growth of relationship is just enough to keep you hooked up.
Good story : 4.5/5

It's an awesome Rurouni Kenshin with a female lead. She's strong and deadly and the main character isn't a total loser, I love that by talking so much he's learned to read people. Clever and so good. I can see the beginnings of a supernatural aspect as well as this having the potential to become a popular action manga (if there's more and extended fight scenes, which can be amazing if she does it right.) I can't wait to see where this goes! Add some of her sexy trademark romance and we'll have ourselves a classic here!

Man, I am sure happy that Kawashita finally got another serialization, too bad it's not a weekly one, but she is getting old I guess. They didn't even let her do something herself, but I bet she is happy even win this.
