Cardcaptor Sakura

With every genre, there are cliches that everyone groans over. Mahou shoujo is a genre so strictly-defined that a series has to be made nearly entirely of cliches in order to fit in it. There are some series under the mahou shoujo umbrella that are great by subverting the conventions, like Revolutionary Girl Utena. And then there are the few that manage to be plenty likeable while playing all the tropes straight. Cardcaptor Sakura is one of those. Other than CLAMP's signature questionable romances, there's not an original thing about CCS. But it's such a fun series, so cute and pretty and sentimental, that it's hard to dislike it nevertheless.

One of my first manga books! Ah, those were the days... I borrowed it from my friend and watched the anime on tv. I love it! Sakura is is cute! The drawings are wonderful and it has a delightful story and adorable characters. It is a great read for younger kids and will always have a special place in my heart!

So I'm only started reading this because I wanted some background on other characters from Clamp. Mainly for xxxHolic and Tsubasa. Like an unexpected punch to the face there are some surprising things in this story. Like the teacher in getting engaged to his what 10 year old studentconfused LOL (pedo) Oh yeah and the slight undertones of yuri/yaoi relationships that won't happen...I think Don't get take it the wrong way I'm not knocking down the series it was just unexpected considering the main characters are prepubescent. This isn't really a spoiler. I'm at chapter 9 which is still far away from the end.

A CLAMP series that actually has an ENDING!

Out of all the CLAMP works, Cardcaptor Sakura actually has an ending. I believe xxxHOLiC and Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles are still going and there's not point to it anymore. Cardcaptor Sakura wasn't short but it wasn't long either, so it's not completely a waste of time reading it. I have to admit, the artwork isn't the best.

Geared towards younger audience

This was a cute series. I'd say this is written more for the 7-10 crowd. I'm an adult, and reading this made my teeth and headache. Not my taste. The art was well done though not stunning.

This was one of my first series so I have a definate softspot for it. It was entertaining even if it did drag a bit and seem like it was making it up as it went.

This is the one of the first few anime I've ever watched when I was a kid.

I didn't realize it was a manga until afterwards. It's a really cute series that I think everyone should try. Sakura is a likable heroine (even though I believe she's a Mary-Sue). You can't really dislike the girl. When I was a kid, I began to imitate the way she twirls her staff by using a tree branch. (Eventually, it stuck to me as a habit and I still twirl my pencil in class during those long lectures.)

Throughout the manga, you get happy, sad, you 'squee'... it's a very nice series.

Another great work by CLAMP

I have to say, this is one of my favorite mangas. The manga is different from the anime so whatever you read in the manga, some of it wont be in the anime D: Like the yaoi! D: That saddened me a lot ;_; but! There are hints of shounen-ai! Uwah! <3

Anyways this is a series for younger readers but its still a good series if you want a shoujo manga. Its got beautiful artwork, the plot is original, the characters are developed, and there are plot twists! I've only read this series once but I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cute series! Clamps artworks are very good and worth any money you have to spend!

This was the first Anime I had seen in my life... (It was back in 2000) but since then, I've been a Huge fan of Card Captor Sakura...

The manga, as one mentioned before, has a better and more complete story. The anime has a Awesome artwork...

I've seen the anime like 18 times... call me Crazy, Insane or anything!!! XD

well.. this manga was actually pretty good!
I saw this manga being completely scanned a long time ago but i never thought of reading it cuz it seemed so childish to me plus last time i watched it i was a lot younger. However, i started watching the first movie and well, i wanted to read the manga!
I finished it all in 1 day and right now it's around 12am. haha
At first i was like "hm.. pretty good art but i liked the anime art better" i heard the manga was better den the anime and i havn't watched all the anime eps.
The manga was quite good though and i liked the romance with sakura and Li.
LOL ders like mix of everything. yaoi, yuri, loli hahah!
Overall, i enjoyed it (: now, i wanna watch the anime eps and the 2nd movie

some problems though which is why i gave it a 9.5 and not a 10
Spoiler (highlight to view)
I liked the ending where it showed them older but i wish it woulda lasted more than 3 pages and more romantic or smthing.

but evertything else was good! they explained everything well!
