this manga is suggested to me by some user at the forum when i'm looking for suggestion to read, turn out its became another manga that I can read over and over when I want to read something lighthearted, funny, and a little ecchi too..
I know the story is shallow and simple, but how to create an engaging, interesting story from the simple idea is sometimes is genius by itself.
I know the main character is not as strong as my fave char at this topic story Hachibe Maeda from Ai Kora or more gullible shameful guy like Yuuki Rito from To Love Ru even though they're facing with quite the same situation. But with his own style, the writer manage to make Raku to standout evenly and show us some nice story too.

...I'm way out of words so I'll keep this short.

I was and still in love with the oneshot. The story of the series is a different story. Waay to cliched to my liking.

Ugh, where to start... sooo many absurdly idiotic plot devices.

I've never been fond of the childhood promise thing to begin with. I can't imagine the sap who who CARE about something like that. Friends since childhood is fine cause you know you get along etc.

The premise behind the sham itself: If those two bosses can't control their people then they would have been arrested ages ago, and if it was that easy to get them to make truce something else would have worked.(many things like excommunication to members who broke a truce, finger gifts, or making an example by offing one of my own people would easily cool off even the most hot tempered gang... even the unbelievably dumb ones depicted) which leads me to another point-

Yakuza are not even comparable to the gung-ho idiots in this manga. A true yakuza is a refined business man, only one who doesn't mind doing what needs to be done to make a profit. I believe all manga authors who write about the "arbitrary life threatening" yakuza like this should be put in a "prominent house" with copies of their work. Let them wet themselves and go about the day as normal... at least they wouldn't write anymore crap like this.

I could go on, but this series isn't even worth the effort i just wasted, anymore would be giving it too much of my time. -_-;

The one-shot was better than the serialization. Although the one-shot was cliche it was more fun to read. Extremely disappointed when I read chapter 1 and 2. Seriously? Childhood friend, childhood promise, NEW TRANSFER STUDENT, abnormal "late for school" encounter, and hate each other yet continue hanging out with each other? The generic levels went off the charts. Even with the little twist at the end of ch 1 didn't seem original. If it's in weekly shonen jump, I'm sure it won't last long unless the author pulls a better story together.

The only thing different is swapping outerspace and aliens with gangsters and police officers. I thought it was good when it started but it became cliche so fast, so many girls introduced. So many love interests even for a Harem, it keeps increasing. It looks like it's being force fed to stay alive. It'll probably end abruptly too.

I loved the oneshot and the first chapter. My hopes were so high!

And then I saw the harem tag. 🙁 I take back all the good things I said about this manga. I guess Komi Naoshi just gave up and decided he had to pander to the lowest common denominator to keep this series from getting cancelled, and that's just sad. (He should seriously try to pitch his stuff to a different magazine, like Shonen Sunday or something.) Here's hoping that he goes back to doing oneshots soon!

After reading thousands of manga since i started when i was 13, i have to say Double arts by komi is my #1 favorite manga of all time. and yet, this oneshot and its continuation sickens me to read. Where is his original and inventive ideas? where is the action? When i finished reading the oneshot i didnt want to believe it was his work... it seems hes sold out all his beautiful and exciting ideas for a cliche love story....that's been done a million times. Oh, komi naoshi i wish you would come back 🙁
this new story doesnt hold a candle to your real abilities.

I got half way through chapter 15, and had enough. At first, I thought "Well, this manga might be interesting. We've got the childhood friend, and the girl that is the invader in this relationship. Maybe this series will even break the mold and let the childhood friends actually get together, rather than be usurped by the main female lead (because reasons, that's why!)" But when the main female lead started talking about a 10 year promise as well, I started to question how much I was going to take from this series, having already been annoyed at all these clear revelations being sidelined by the characters' crippling case of the stupids. I eventually gave up and went to the wiki, to learn that the main female lead also has a key. Oh joy, what are the odds of that? Then I went to the last chapter currently out (107) and skimmed all the pages... to learn that the same ol stick is still being played out.

Things were moving so fast in the beginning, I thought this series might be interesting. Get all the romantic mystery plots out of the way, and now they have to date the ones they want while hiding it from everyone else or something... but no... this series just sucks.

Am I the only one who considered this complete crap. First of all, I hate all of the characters!. Especially the main girl. She is completely unlikable, thick headed and her attitude is unbearable. Don't let me get started on the main guy!! I mean is it really that hard to confess to the girl you like? and whats up with the locket foolishness!! Can anybody keep a promise to a kid they only met ONCE!! years ago??

It's just completly aweful!!!! The oneshot was beautiful and I really did wish he remained with that plot instead of this rubbish!! I really want to drop this but I have never gived up on a manga before, and I'm not gonna start now.

If your looking for a "good"shounen/ romance.... don't read this!!

Maybe I judge this manga a bit to harshly, but I won't take back my words, the plot has gotten a lot better, I suppose, but, its the same. However, I finally took everyone's advice about this manga, and just accept that its all about comedy and keeping its ratings high rather than executing a "real" plot, and I accept that. I've read some comments on different manga sites, and most of them stated that its a "shounen romance", don't expect much from it, but that's just rubbish, because I've read some awsome shounen romance, that actually was worth it! So just saying "its a shounen manga" does not justify why the plot is wayward and terrible.

Also on the side note, I think its safe to say that most people started to read this manga, solely because the oneshot was extraordinary and it gave way for a series with potential.
