Description
From Del Rey:
Yamato is ready for a fresh start. So when his aunt invites him to stay rent-free in her big-city boarding house in hustling, bustling Tokyo, Yamato jumps at the chance. There's just one teensy-weensy catch: It's an all-girl housing complex and spa! Things get even more nerve-racking when Yamato meets his neighbor Suzuka, a beautiful track-and-field star. She's not just the cutest girl Yamato's ever met, she's also the coolest, the smartest, and the most intimidating. Can an ordinary guy like Yamato ever hope to win over a girl like Suzuka?

You know, all I have to say is...
What a ****ing b****. The main heroine is just LEGENDARY when it comes to personality. Good God.
And whats even more amazing is that the main lead still goes after her. Time and time again without pause....even after rejection. The man has balls of steel.
To the people who say hes spineless. No he isn't. He actually portrays a lot of realistic qualities that you'd probably see in real life.
I'd know since I've been rejected once before from a girl and its not a happy feeling, lemme tell ya.
At the very least, he's definitely not as spineless as the main characters you'd see in Love Hina or Tenchi for example. He actually tries his very best at things and is very good-hearted. And yet, he gets punished for it. Why?
I have no idea actually.
I'd have to also agree with a previous comment on here that said this played out like an old TV soap opera. It's pretty much exactly like that. Once you think a relationship is going smoothly, BOOM, it goes down the toilet.
I would've been okay with this if it happened once or twice. But I'm not exaggerating when I say that its happened on many occasions. Like....every single volume maybe.
There is one particular occasion that I still do not understand at all. He gets rejected from the main heroine. Then he proceeds to have a relationship with a girl that's had a crush on him ever since they were kids.
It goes fine, as per usual. Then he gets her a birthday present and obviously, the girl shows no gratitude whatsoever. Regardless of *how* he got it, he tried to give her happiness and is still punished for it. Why?
Because of her own damn selfish reasons. Because she *assumed* that the main lead still had feelings for the main heroine even though he outright said he didn't.
And....you could probably deduct on how their relationship went from there.
Suzuka is a manga that makes you want to just throw something at the computer screen just because it pisses you off that much.
If the female characters in this manga are any sort of standard that women in the real world try to adhere to, then I'd have to say, its going to be a dark and lonely place for us men...

Wanna read manga with protagonist so illogically inept you constantly wonder how he manages to breath each day?
Wanna read manga revolving around a romance between people who a genuinely terrible to each other?
Wanna read a manga about people making irrational decisions that can only be explained as the person making them must have some kind of mental disorder?
Wanna read a manga that insults your intelligence at every turn and assumes you have no concept of how humans behave?
Wanna watch two people destroy each other lives over some ridiculously and easily avoidable selfish decision?
Then this is the manga for you!

This manga has one huge problem: Suzuka. Basically, you have a horribly annoying character with no likable traits as the main female character. Can it get any worse? Apparently, yes. The hero of the story falls for this girl despite the fact that she's a horrible person who treats him like garbage.
Furthermore, the fact that this is one of those stereotypical "destined couples", you just know who's going to end up with who from the moment you start reading, rendering all the other relationships that develope unnecessary, since you know they're not going to last. And that just makes the whole thing even worse, since the other girls in the comic are much more likable than Suzuka.

A really good story, skips the boring parts and keeps to the plot or developing the characters.

saying this is a great series is probably an understatement.
this is a wicked series, one of the best i've seen recently. the characters are realistic and well-portrayed, the story moves along at a good pace.the romance isn't over-the-top, and the sporting action is very good. one can sympathise with and relate to the emotions, feelings and reactions of the main character due to its very accurate portrayal of school scenarios. all in all a close-to-perfect shonen manga.
i don't know why people have said this is like love hina - when watching the anime anyway, the feeling is totally different. i have read the love hina manga and watched the anime quite a few times and i did not even get the idea of a relation until i saw it mentioned here. in technical terms the scenario is the somewhat similar, but when watching the anime anyway it doesn't feel at all even close.
and finally, i don't know why everyone is calling the main character yamoto 'stupid', 'a retard' and 'a loser'. i completely disagree - in fact, this was one of the first series (in anime anyway) that i was thinking the main character is not the stereotypical loser of romance mangas - he is good-looking, athletic and pretty popular. its very refreshing to have a character liek this for a change - the almost exact opposite of the loser that the comments here describe.
this series is definately worth the 10/10 i give it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

unlike some other romance mangas, Suzuka is a manga with romance issues that can really happen in real life! i sometimes find myself relating to some of the issues that comes up. A must read! excellent storyline and characters.
Everybody knows that the guy is going to end up with Suzuka, cause the manga is called Suzuka. However i read the latest chapter and i don't see how its suppose to happen. Its a great and interesting manga.
