False Advertising

It is a cute, slightly depressing story about life's disappointments basically. Some characters were better than others. Having said that, some of the better characters straight up disappear from the story with no real explanation as to why.
Additionally, I read this because it is labelled "romance". It really shouldn't be. Romantic subplot, sure. But romance isn't really a driving theme during the story, it's just a small motivation of sorts. So it isn't a romance story.

I have read around 6 or so manga from same author, but personally this one was the worst compared to them.
Characters are very shallow and I cannot empathize with their circumstances. I think the problem lies on the presentation of their problems as a whole. That and many random events leading to how they come to face their problems didn't seem really convincing. I couldn't care much from many of the side characters and even the grandma lady which was most likely the most interesting, got sidetracked to have the dance center look more like a club activity with people of the same age.

Let just said you loved play soccer, you play it your best but soon you learned that you aren't good enough. What will you do ?

I like one paragraph from this manga, It's : "You must as well try and look a fool rather than be the fool who never try"

Started out so well

Early on during this story I had such high hopes. The characters were interesting and I was really liking the focus on Spanish dancing, it was something new and interesting for the manga to focus on. Then at some point things just start to stagnate. You just want things to move along already and yet it feels like the author keeps moving the goalpost back further and further. Also while I did enjoy the characters overall (the bromance between the three male leads was very touching) the main character was such an annoyance at times. Be prepared to be completely exasperated with a main character because this guy is just the worst sometimes. C'mon dude man up at least once. I was so glad the last chapter happened because he HAD to stop running away then. Also this story really needs a Slow Romance tag or something by the way because our main characters don't even meet properly apart from a flashback early on until near the end of the story. Finally while the flamenco stuff was interesting at times there was just so many pages dedicated to it, at some point I found myself skipping multiple pages to get back to the plot.

Now you may think I hate this story or something, but no I still think its quite good. It's just that the beginning starts off so strong and yet they drag the conclusion out a bit too long. The ending is also satisfying even if not every side character gets closure. Really though the characters save this series for me. The grandfather, our main trio and the dancing teacher were just some of the characters that stood out to me as particularly interesting.

I certainly recommend you give it a read. If particularly pathetic male leads turn you off though you may want to give this a skip.

Fantastic Gloomy Slice of Life

I adore this series and appreciate just how well it captures the gloom that can invade a person's life when they've given up on their dreams. The inching forward out of depression and constant backsliding into self-doubt and crises of confidence felt much more genuine to me than most stories where one event or conversation fixes a character's problems all at once. Kimitaka's connection with Fujimoto isn't a cure-all for his self-confidence but it does inspire him to try to find something to live for once more and I think that's beautiful. The pace may be ponderously slow at times but the monologuing format fits this slice of life story like a glove. There are no perfect easy solutions for anyone in this story and personally I find that the most satisfying part of all.

Has some really good points and confronts many issues teenagers have to go through in their road to adulthood but I get a little tired of the whining, depression and self-disgust, most common phrase in this series is "I'm pathetic".
Overall it was a nice read and for a change the chars weren't cliched, and the gramps always makes me smile, on the other hand the main char is quite annoying in his reserve of contacting Fujimoto, same for the mangaka making the too miss each other over and over for the sake of it. Nonetheless the romance was interesting thou it's clearly relayed to a secondary place in the story.

Fragility

I'm sorry but the main thing I kept noticing is their Food T-shirts! Damn.

But yea. That aside, i just knew it was Sahara Mizu's when i saw the cover art. It's a bit of a oddball slice of life with a somewhat dark but real theme going on.

Namari is brave and strong. The silent stoic type that really gets to you. I loved how the story is delivered in monologues and the boys are slowing getting together and discovering things.

It's not a loud flashy youth growth! kinda manga but it is quiet and pondering with a splash of gloom. Beautiful and yet fragile.

A sweet story about a girl and a boy who fulfill each others' dreams. Somehow they begin pushing themselves in order to keep up with the other. Personally, I give it a 10 because the message of standing tall after you fall is a great motive.
