I really don't know where to begin to describe how dumbfounded I felt as I read this manga. It simply is such an amazing add-on to the Evangelion series that even its 'adult' content can be called nothing short of beautiful. This story adds so much depth and richness to every character and pushing them to their limits, and even at its core lies messages that might have been lost amongst excessive theory and strive thats been centered around Evangelion. I think this manga does it's counterpart(s) great justice and I think it can even fair well, even as a stand-alone, for its enormous character development, psycological mind torture and unpredictability tops that of what I've seen in entire seasons of anime. Just to cut it short (as there is so much to say about this manga) I hope that everyone, seriously, gets a chance to read this, and if they have not viewed the Evangelion series to begin with, the questions that will arise from this will surely make them curious... =3 All in all, I recommend this manga to everyone who can understand the depth of what each person is truly looking for... that is, belonging.
Also the sequel to this manga, Re-take After is released, search it up. It is pretty much an add-on to Re-Take, and takes on a much softer tone, but compensates with the same solid morals and themes.
Update: I suggest for those looking for a re-read or something to go and dl the soundtrack to re-take. It is quite good and runs around the same time to go through the entire manga.
Update 2 - upon reading the manga, I have to say this makes this doujin even better - as noted eariler it makes references from the manga (which has scenes not in the anime), and builds upon them in ways (i think) anno would have proudly implemented himself.
