Sequel to Immortal Regis.
24 Volumes (Complete)

This manga is great.. now i want to know what the Regis is doing and who is fighting who.. i also want to know why His younger brother ( aka kalabolg or w/e the name is ) was sealed and also what happened with Serin .. There is also the question why he is such a bitchhhhh and kill any1 in his way.. man i cant wait ..
IR bored the shit out of me. Okay, I'll soften the blow: it was nothing special. It was a typical shounen story, with random kid getting crazy power-ups and becoming the SAVIOR OF THE DEMON WORLD.
And he gets the goth girl.
So when the sparkly-eyed kid came back as this dark, "fuck off or i keel you" tyrant, I was pretty pleased. Like 99% of everyone else in this room, I don't care for the "new protagonist." Because, let's face it, he's not. Even the author knows it; heck, he even poked fun at it in one of his parody columns.
Though I have to admit, the author did take a bit too long with hauling in the flashbacks, but he set up a pretty damn good standard. Unfortunately, the standards are a bit too high. Now fans expect him to concoct a convincing enough backstory as to why the hell Jae and Serin had their couples' spat of the century. And how the hell they had such a dumbshit kid. Must be recessive genes.
yea i was like what the hell is this, it has nothing to do with the original story but i was wrong, this manga started too far in the future. the first time i read it i was like "ok im piss, i will read this another time", now that they are talking about wats going on after immortal reagis end, im like "fuck yea".
the story is starting to get interesting, especially since they are now talk about what happend in tafter immortal reagis ending.
i did give this manga a 6 at first but now a 8.5 just because im getting lost in certain scene when but no too bad or it might be just me
As the user before has already said, the manga has finally started to explain the past, and it's all pretty exciting! I thought this manga was going to be crappy from all the reviews and how it started out, but after reading the final chapter it seems like it's going to be just as awesome as Immortal Regis.
Right, well, rejoice. The tie-in to the old characters has come! (in the form of flashbacks and stuff, but o well.) We DO find out what happened! it WAS annoying, waiting for the story to progress this far, though. This really should have come, at least in part, after the first few chapters. NOT 20 chapters in.
I'm satisfied, though, because the missing time is being addressed
especially what happened to owen! poor guy never got that curse undone
Though I DO wish the series had continued chronologically...
Years later, and I have absolutely no recollection of writing this. I'm gonna have to reread IR and what's out for this, as I totally don't remember any of it...
if you were a fan of IR you may be a bit disappointed in CoA. Damn near all of the relationships got thrown on their head, we had a huge time skip pertaining a where a lot of things have happened but we aren't getting filled in, and we have an entire slew of new characters who are all important plot wise yet we know very little about them. And the new main character kinda blows plus WTF is up with his shallow ass back-story, IR had a good amount of depth to it but I find CoA to be too shallow, It's a shame I loved the first one but this is almost un-readable
i don't know why but i feel compelled to read even though its really confusing maybe even more than the prequel but this manga i find a little more confusing because they don't give you a explanation about whats happened after the prequel and then they introduce a bunch of whole new characters and expect you to catch onto whats going on along the way witch they kinda do but it'll still confusing even after you find out whats going on but for the most part its a lot like the prequel
(i suggest reading it if you liked the prequel and highly recommend that you read the prequel if you haven't because if you haven't it'll just be way to fucking confusing)
Switching/having multiple protagonists has got to be one of the worst rhetorical devices ever conceived by man.
What is the point of having so much of a reader's attention invested in one particular character only to have all of it suddenly usurped? A failed attempt at resurgence/poignance?
Jae Hyuk becoming "evil" is acceptable. The author could slowly interject flashbacks, leading up to the present. The author could palliate things over the course of the story. The author could so on and so forth. There's literally plenty material worthy of supporting or continuing this.
But to randomly insert some random, shitty, daisy-fresh lead? He could be mother-fucking awesome for all I care, and I still would have problems accepting him. Readers subconsciously develop a propensity/likeness for protagonists. This why we hate when the lead gets picked on, and at the same time are much more forgiving if the lead is the one doing the bullying. We, the audience, form a connection. And that that connection we established over six volumes is now taken backseat to this new, little, white-haired, fucking, Jae Hyuk substitute.
"Oh, you're just being stubborn/inflexible." This is probably true, but it doesn't change fact that I don't like it.
Ah, the art is indeed pretty. But now every time I'm reading I'm going to be annoyed by the little nuance reminding me that Jae isn't in the spotlight anymore.
(Seriously this new guy's vengeance is just a rehash of that one guy's. The one who had his dad killed and brother injured. He sets out to kill them all, but it seems like they're not all bad. What a fucking shock~ A tired, unsubtle metaphor for impartiality/racism/equality.)
Really great start, you already "feel" with the setting. It's dark, heavy. And you just know, that beneath all that there's the prequel Immortal Regis. As if you were a denizen of Chaos, the setting is kinda confusing in a similar IR fashion, this is what makes this Manwha so distinctive. Intense. Explosive fights all the way, and under all this you know there's a plot waiting somewhere, or maybe already in motion. Like secrets hidden under a carpet. And you'll just have to read to find it out. And maybe re-read it again. I'm expecting alot from this Manhwa, for it's prequel was very entertaining in many ways.
I was impressed that the prequel's protagonist became the antagonist for CofA. It was somewhat expected that Jae Hyuk would turn evil, use Serin with the many foreshadowings in IR (the ressemblances with the Undead King Noche) and Narubis' predictions. Feeling kinda deceived for Jae and her were too cute in IR, just couldn't get enough of that :p Anyhow, there's probably more to come, since Narubis readings mentionned about Jae having two destinies. Xix + Yuan now? :3
That aside, the story until now is pretty deep, the plot is great, hard to gauge with all of that intense butt-kicking action every chapter. One word. Breathtaking. Can't wait for more!
i'm a bit disappointed too when seeing Jae as a badass and even imprisoned Serin, they constructs that awesome characters development and relationship in I-R, yet annihilates it in CotA... seems like Jae and Serin bond before are that cheap >_>
but still it's too early to make any judgment and i'll put a bit more hope on them to fix this
