Why such a story with so much potential was discontinued I will never know. I would have loved to see this story progress but I’m instead left with many unanswered questions. So be forewarned, this is not a very complete story, if you don’t like stories that don’t have a real ending I wouldn’t read this.
Plot- It’s a very unique plot, but I was hesitant at first. A boy and girl having to hold hands all the time eh… that could be interesting but at the same time it could become very awkward depending on how the plot device was handled. Fortunately that plot device was handled very nicely, and I actually enjoyed it! As the story progressed interesting questions were aroused about the disease and the different groups involved with its past. Unfortunately hardly any of the questions are answered…
Characters- The characters were great! Kiri was a very kind boy, fun loving and yet a bit immature, there was great room for his character development and growth throughout the series. Elraine was also quite a good character, of the cast she might not be the most interesting but she herself was very compassionate and had a lot of room for growth as well. As for the other characters they all had their own pros and cons, making for a very interesting and diverse cast. I personally really like Sui, she was great!
Art- It was quite nice, very clear and firm, very pleasant to look at. Though some of the hair styles (Kiri’s mostly) defied gravity… but ah well, it’s manga it’s allowed!
Other- The pacing of the story could be worked on, it seemed that it was going a little bit to slow, but it wasn’t too bad, and I noticed that there was an annoying recap in every single chapter that went over everything we already knew. Does Elraine always have to report to the Sisters? Other than that the story was quite good and was heading in a very interesting direction… and then it was canceled. I was slightly happy that we had a glimpse at the happy ending (or what seemed like one…) but I wanted to see us get there and all the questions were not answered at all which is annoying. I would recommend this, if only for the characters and general plot line, to others but only if they don’t mind open endings.
