Drags to a halt

This, unfortunate reminds me of Red River. I said unfortunately because it incites comparison. Unlike RR, the plot does not continually evolve and move onto bigger and bigger things. Instead, it is x volumes of the same gag and angst over and over again. The characters' emotions and motivations seem shallow and simple. There was so much potential at the beginning of the story for an epic action/romance shoujo but it vanished at some point and left a boring plot and characters I don't give a damn about and the ending was a non-ending. It might've been better to speed up the pace of the plot and include more events so that years (and probably important scenes) are not missing and the characters are sufficiently developed so that they incite some sort of reaction from the reader.

I'm usually very forgiving on a manga regardless of ending if only the content itself is good. However, after reading the ending I can say that it's one of the least satisfying ending I've ever read in a manga. I would recommend not to read this simply because you'll feel that you've been wasting your time.

a shojo manga that actually has a plot

I loved it so much i read the hole series in 2 days.
It has nice characters, the plot focuses on all sides of the story (not just the romance aspect)as it follows each character through his development, and the author tries to mix this epic romance a bit of ancient Greace's political turmoil .

the art is a little shady, but it's ok, the plot compensates.

so , all in all, i'd say it's brilliant .

I really didn`t like the ending!
It was like the story was suddenly cut off...and when i reached the ending I clicked and clicked on the "next page" button but there was nothing more! I stared on my PC am stared and stared and then I asked "That was all? For real? Are you JOKING me?"...But it was the real thing...
I mean did they get together?Or maybe later? Or they stay alone forever?
And now I don`t want to rate it, because I feel the desir to give it only a 1 for the ending!
It was one of the worst ending I ever read for quite some time....so now i think I`ll wait one or two month....

I know its not a great descriptive word for a manga (or manhwa, whatever), but I found this one beautiful. and not just the art, though i liked that a lot too. I absolutely love the plotline, no matter how weird certain parts were. It just moves me every time i read it. I like that I actually feel for the characters in this story rather than not care like i do with most others. I was so mad when certain things happened and I actually cried at one part. I LOVE IT!!!! My favorite by this author. Its the only one of hers where the main character doesnt bug me to death.

Lamodeos

Lamodeos really carried the story. SLIGHT SPOILER: His gayness with Prince Tyon was really the best part of the manwha. While Matia was pretty cool most of the time, she angsted a lot about the General, but Lamodeos was awesome. Honestly, I don't think I'd have read this all the way through if not for him. Still, I thought that this was kind of awesome. I only started reading this because it was one of the few completely scanlated Hwang Mi Ri works, and I usually dislike fantasy a lot. But I seriously got into it -- I was late to class like three times. ^^;;;;

Really? I read the last page and I was like.. uhhh.. I think some pages are missing from volume 15 but NOPE! It's really the end -___- one of the worst endings ever! & for some reason I don't see anything special about Matia... I don't know why both of them like her =/
Back to the ending. So many unanswered questions! The war? The love? The future king? The sister? Ohmahgah, so many things left hanging!

I bet everyone who read this just made up their own ending lol. For once I question why HRM didn't produce more volumes... usually she has a lot of volumes for a manhwa, well 15 usually but I've seen some with more.

more realistic than most

I liked that the main character's emotional development, even if negative, seemed realistic. I think you will enjoy this manga the most if you keep in mind from the beginning that, in my opinion, the main characters are really Prince Tyon and Temedes. I was never a huge fan of Temedes, because he is first characterized as "I would give up everything, even my country, for my love" and later characterized as "I would give up everything, even my love, for my country." The latter character, who he became pretty early on, was pretty dull and didn't develop. As a slight spoiler, there are very few romantic scenes between Matia and Temedes after, say, book 4. It's as if the manhwa-ka realized that she didn't actually like Matia and Temedes that much, and that the competitor, Prince Tyon, she created, was a much more engimatic and complex character, so she chose to focus more on him and his relationship with Lamodeos and also his political intrigue. Personally, Tyon and Lamedeos carried the last two thirds of this manhwa. Their ending was very satisfying. The one between Matia and Temedes was not. Also, this manhwa took more than a few pages from Red River, so you might like that one a lot more if you're looking for the straightforward historical shojou where she marries the king and all that jazz. If you like this kind of new twist on things, I recommend Saver.

Awesome story!

Pros:: Ridiculously good story, and unique. It felt like something that could have potentially happened in ancient times. I particularly liked the break-down and the rebuild of the main character through all of her hardships. The art was well done. Hwang Mi Ri's stories are really hit or miss (and I've read quite a few misses lately), but this one is defnitiely a hit. I'm glad that she took a step away from all of the jjang's and money-loving modern girls/boys to write this story. Hope in the future that she does another one!

Cons: Unfortunately, the scanlator's translation is quite rough and it can get very difficult to follow at times. The story skips from one group of people at once scene, to another group of people at a different scene, and once has a three year time skip... so I definitely got lost and had to re-read a few pages. I truly hope that in the future someone can re-scanlate this manwha or it gets licensed for English.

One of the better HMR story

I usually don't care to much for her works, but this is one of the few that I actually enjoyed. The story line is not very strong, but the main female character is less insufferable than HMR’s other female protagonists. This story is a reminiscent of the Red River (which I dislike and couldn’t bear to finish) and of Basara (which I adore and read twice), due to the nature of prophecy, of an ancient, historical setting, and of some political upheaval in their nations.
It’s not particular well-written, the art is merely average, the characters aren’t too memorable, yet despite all that, it was an interesting story to read, and read quickly. The fact that Miata only has feelings for
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
General Temedes despite having the prince falling in obsessively, crazily in love with her,
and that she is a strong (physically) female character without that over-the-top-I’m-a-strong-jjang annoying attitude is quite refreshing. However, I wish the creator would focus more on the two leads, though I haven’t minded that she developed Prince Tyon and Lamodeos, giving them more substance as supporting characters.
The pacing is a little off and the ending feels completely rushed and confusing (I have to reread it to understand it), which I can see why many reviewers are unsatisfied. I, however, am rather satisfied as I hate lengthy and repetitive series (*cough* Hot Blooded Woman *cough*).
