Description
At the Tristain Magic Academy, her classmates call bumbling witch-in-training Louise Francoise le Blanc de la Valliere "Louise the Zero." During an important coming-of-age ritual, when each student must summon their own witch’s familiar, Louise confirms her classmates’ opinion by accidentally conjuring up a normal teenage boy from Japan. Whether the two of them like it or not, the laws of magic bind them as master and servant forever! A hilarious novel with romance interwined.

Im sad that the author died since i was preparing to read this once finished, but now I will not since it would be horrible to have an unfinished story hanging afterwards. Sometimes I wish people ended their series on top, instead of drawing it out til its to late and take it with them to death, of to the promising pile i wont read with kaze no stigma.

if u seen the anime or the manga and liked it, then u will like the novel. the novel though is alot more different than the anime or manga. it goes more into depth with the story. it explains u what really going on better and help u understand what the hell is going.

its a really nice story kinda like harry potter, well in term of magic, the story is a japanese story so u should expect what we see in all japanese story

i give it a 10 though i still say it takes long for the other to come out but yea i know, it takes time to scanlate. so those guys working on it, just keep up the good work

Baka-Updates are not following releases.

For some reason Baka-Updates are not following the ZnT novels releases closely. The actual novels are already at volume 12. Maybe they are scared by the preview tag but it was said many times on B-T forums that it doesn't mean all that much and should be counted as official releases.

Anyways, the series themselves is good. Much better than anime and manga. It has character depth, drama, fanservice, comedy and romance something that anime lacked (it only focused on boob and lesbo jokes and fanservice).

If you hated anime or manga you should still try novels even if you are not that much into reading. It is worth a try.

Update - the chapter 5 of volume 12 was released few days before.

well, its interesting in its own way. if you like magic theme story, this is a good recommendation. pick this up, and you'll never put it back down again.

although the words/sentences doesn't match up (as per current translation), but still, the cohesiveness of the story is clearly seen. no wasted space or plot on the story. no wonder this was adopted into manga and anime. although the manga is somewhat lousy (artwork and dialouge lines), but the anime was good.

can't wait to see the remaining chapters. hopefully Saito can find a way on going back to Earth and choosing between those girls.. (irecomemnd princess Henrietta, i mean Queen Henrietta, a perfect pair).

Unique and Intriquing

If you have like harems and magic stories before I think you will atleast find some interest in this series. The internal conflict is really interesting. It somewhat realistic in a fantasy world, though the beatings can get old at times the story really comes together and keeps you begging for more. While honestly you won't find anything new from the harem genre, you will be captivated by the fights and the romance not only between saito and louise but also henrietta, siesta, and tifa. I highly recommend this series, its so much better than the manga or the anime.

Maybe I just have no stomach for harem series, I quickly got sick of a severe beating being delivered to Saito over every stupid little misunderstanding. And it was usually right after anything good that happened. (Or just for good abusive measure when things were going okay) For the majority of my reading, I absolutely could not stand Louise, probably as a result of all the senseless abuse. Sure, she's cute but she just seemed like such a b**ch that it didn't matter one bit. However, every time I got sick of the above and stopped reading I some how always ended up going back to the series and read the 8 translated volumes in a few short days. Even with so many things I didn't like I still could not bring myself to abandon reading the series and would very much like to know what happens in later volumes, so I look forward to them being translated.

I can't compare the manga/anime to the novel as I haven't read any of the manga and I've only watched 2-3 episodes of the anime so far, not sure I'll watch more or not. But I'm guessing from other users comments I'll enjoy them less. (Though that's usually to be expected)

Final thoughts: Unless you dislike harem series and can get into the fantasy setting, you'll probably enjoy this series. Since I managed to some what enjoy it even with complete contempt for this type of harem series.

So far i have read till vol 8, the plot its 100 times better and extremely more detailed than the anime, they focus a lot more in the romance and it keeps you very intrigated about what its going to happen next with a "I CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER TO READ WHAT HAPPENS NEXT"!!. And one of the things i liked the most its that they focus a lot more in the Tiffania part.

Highly Recommended. You will not regret spending time reading this.

Many Thanks to Baka-Tsuki for their great work translating this Awesome novel.

Excellent series. Both, novel and anime are excellent. Indeed, the novel is a lot more detailed than anime, but so far the anime follows the plot of the novel more or less in a acceptable form. Of course if you're a die-hard fan of this series from the anime, such as i, read the novel, it reaallly contributes to understand better the story, not to mention the novel is the "real plot".

It also describes a lot better the romance aspect than the anime. And a lot more detailed in some ways <-- reader should interpret this last sentece. In few words, 1000% recommendated. A fantastic series, and as usual, in my opinion, novel >> anime.

In othe note, thanks to Baka-Tsuki for their great work translating this great novel. Keep the good work guys, it's very appreciated.
