Description

From Viz:
Yuri, a pretty Japanese girl, is ecstatic after passing her college entrance exam and having her first kiss with her childhood friend-turned-boyfriend. However, her luck soon changes. She starts to notice that water becomes agitated whenever she goes near it. One night, hands appear out of a puddle on the street and drag her into the water. Transported to an ancient village in the Middle East, she is then captured by armed troops and taken to the Queen's palace for a human sacrifice.

Contains the side story Orontes Renka published in the 28th volume, set in the same historic period.

Note: Won the Shogakukan Manga Award for Shoujo in 2001.

I think it's boring. Nothing really happened. I like funny characters, light hearted stuff, looking at a lot of different things, different scenery and this manga lacked that for me Does this mean it deserves a low rating from me? Ehhhh

I got tired after about 16, 17 volumes. Once the smut started I was gone. I really don't like smutty shoujo.

The whole "perfect heroine" thing got tiresome too. Yuri isn't a particularly nice person, so it pissed me off how much EVERY SINGLE PERSON except the Queen thinks she's so wonderful, fantastic, marvelous, brilliant, omg best ever. Geez. She's just a Japanese high school girl, give me a bloody break!

I'm giving it 7/10 because it was very interesting in the beginning. I like "pulled into another world" stories like Juuni Kokki and Fushigi Yuugi and stuff.

I Really Love This Manga!

I have many reasons why i truly love this manga, & i have read many, if you just take a minute to try and look into the authors mind set, we are all going to have different opinions of what we do, & do not like, & thats what shapes us to the genere's we fall in love with!
But, the whole point is for something out of the norm, & plus to fantasize into the romantic evolution of yuri, & kail, yes some things are plotted a little thickly, but tell me where we all at one time or another have not seen 2 people struggle with their feelings, & can go on with a hit, & miss because one or both is to scared to be honest about their true feelings?!
I am not in any way trying to offend anyones opinion,it's our differences of opinion as i see it that makes us look at life, & others from a different point of view, i have felt that no one opinion is wrong, we all just have a different way of saying how we feel,(only when it's derogitory, is when it becomes offensive)! I guess maybe seeing it for what it is without always analyzing the obvious, if you set aside your personal feelings about what you would do, or whats not realistic, it's a truly wonderful romantic manga, & the guys are really hot too! (LOL)! But yuri reminds me of naruto in a lot of ways, they seem to have a naive purity about themselves, & have a very mystic but special way they change peoples lives, just look at how much she was able to change kail, & the peace he wants to bring everyone, & i would have never thought she would change the way, IL Ivani feels about her, heck, he even gave a way for kail to make her his queen, that was when i realized how sexy he really was, : )! Though, i also believe no story is without imperfections, but thats why you always look deeper, and find the true beauty of what sets it apart from all of the others, i have not finished the series yet, but i am still reading as i cannot stop being entranced into the world of, Anatolia, but i can say,"I will be very disapointed, if they after all the crazy, & yet sometimes very obvious things that have happened, they don't end up together"!!!! i know i sound preachy, & analytical, but a friend of mine from japan who told me," If you can open your mind and heart, & overlook the obvious, & the imperfections that others can be judgemental about, which can be quite annoying at times, you can, find the beauty in ANYTHING, whether in a manga, anime, or in just life itself ! I hope that some of you will really give this manga a chance, or any other manga that you normally would bypass because of a biased opinion, a opinion is just that, it's only meant to give you insight into someone else's feelings, & views on what they perceive is right for themselves!

romance, action, suspense in a historical setting with the lead character much more willful than many other shoujo heroines yet also feminine and cute at the same time. this is my favorite manga of all eternity. HANDS DOWN.

This is one of the worst manga I've ever come across. An utterly annoying Mary Sue heroine, no personality whatsoever for the rest of the characters, plain, plain, plain plot - evil queen and blah blah blah - TERRIBLE politics, the romance is ridiculous and unrealistic - not to mention all the abuse that takes place, and yet this is viewed as "one of the best manga ever" or a "rare shoujo with a strong heroine"! This is so overly clichéd and utterly stupid that it's not even funny! A total waste of time. Try Basara instead. Basara is a true epic shoujo.

Stupid Mary Sue

Seriously, I gave it a try. I tried to read it despite the art is too old for my taste. Although I grew up with this kind of manga's style, but this is too much. Kail is too feminine and Yuri is so freaking ugly with that kind of hair.

Talking about Yuri, how a what so called "Strong Female Lead" be so weak?? She's so Mary Sue! She almost got rape in almost every chapters. If you are a strong female, you should do something about it! And not begging to be helped every single time!!! Imagine this: YOU almost got rape, what will you do? I'd try to kick that sht head's dck while screaming for help and RUN away! If the rapist arrested, I'd NEVER forgive IT!! I'd let them rot in hell since they already a RAPIST!! Would you like to marry a rapist?? NO!!! But not in this manga's. This sh*tty character mc almost got rape and she forgives them like nothing happened before. This is so Mary Sue!! All she does is being unique since she's a teenage Japanese (moronic) girl in an ancient Middle eastern country.

All this rape and forgiving the rapist thing is like a brain wash to young gullible lonely teenage girl or woman. Like: forgive the handsome rapist and he will become your prince charming. If you got rape by an old hobo, I bet your ass you will be very disgusted. The hell with people who said this is a good manga. For me it's like that 50 sh*ts of turds! Useless and garbage!

And Yuri always, ALWAYS makes a lot of decision that makes people suffer in the end! All just for the sake for her to SHINE in this turd manga!

Now about Kail. How a Middle Eastern man looks so Japanese?? All he does is: I'm a king so hear me out!!! I want to rape you, so you will become mine!! What? You don't want me?? Screw that! Here comes my dck! That's it!! Now you love me don't cha? Now make love to me every day even though you are not in the mood!! Because I'm the king and my dck makes you forget everything and only thinking about me!!!

There!! I summarize this manga for you already.

My conclusion: Don't waste your time to read this turd.

mmm i've been trying to get into this manga because of all the good comments but....i just dont like the main character, shes a selfish and stupid girl who dosn't care for anyone else but herself... mayb i should read a bit more from ch.2 but so far its not a very nice read for me....
