NO ECCHI!
NO YAOI!
NO MANHWA!

I know a few from shounen, but cannot think of one for shoujo.

What I want is the regular shoujo cliches, or what you can say is a mainstream shoujo manga. One that would be no surprise if the rest of cliched shoujo mangas modeled after.

When you say cliches, it means that it's used way too many times it's gone bad and rotten, correct? But there must either be a first, or a best. That's what I'm looking for. Something that can be none other than shoujo, yet unique because of itself. It won't make you think it's cliched, boring, or bad. But it still has the same things that would come to mind when you here the word shoujo manga.

Hmm... example of shounen ones:
Hunter x Hunter
YuGiOh

Both of them, are shounen. Reeks of shounen. But you can't say they're bad. Okay, maybe I hesitated for YuGiOh a bit, but going back and rewatching the anime recently, I realized that was only matter of preference. The plot is pretty good actually, considering how long it was and how cliched the characters were.

I want shoujo versions of those.

Hmm...When I think of shoujo, I think of these~
Hana yori Dango - the classic. The mainstream.
Fruits Basket - Another well loved classic
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e
Kare Kano

Fun stuff~
Skip Beat! - different in some ways, but overall romance is the usual
Full Moon wo Sagashite - sugary, magical girl-ish
Ouran Koukou Host Bu - parody of typical shoujo cliches 😀
Beauty Pop - nothing really new but I found it entertaining
Love Com - besides the little twist that the guy is shorter than the girl, it's the usual shoujo cliches 🤣

And of course~how could I forget Sailor Moon and CCS xDDD

I second:
Hana yori Dango
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e
Ouran Koukou Host Bu
Love Com - Typical shoujo but doesnt have that "perfect male lead" cliche

I recommend:
Koukou Debut
Strobe Edge - This i really enjoyed :$

Chizumi and Fujiomi the cliches are all over the place: cool and strong male lead, clumsy female lead.. but I don't find it annoying at all (in fact it's my personal favorite shoujo).

I second Koukou Debut and Strobe Edge

Hiyokoi gets a whole lot of cliches on its way but is still nice
Akagami no Shirayukihime strong female here but enough princely males to compensate for 😉
Taiyou no Ie because we all like childhood friends and difference in age
Namida Usagi - Seifuku no Kataomoi pretty cliche but with cute stuff mixed in in

Here are already some very good shoujo mangas suggest, but one which I read and think: THIS IS SHOUJO is Get Love!!
If you take out the parts with soccer it's totally everthing a shoujo manga has. A couple, dates, family meetings, jealousy, and so on.. (Of course the parts with soccer are also great ^^)
And the other mangas by Ikeyama Go. You could say her mangas are all really 'Shoujo'

Whe you write "good mainstream shoujo" it make me think of Kamisama Hajimemashita.

I highly doubt I'll ever read Sailor Moon, but will check the others out.

Hana Yori Dango, I've read it. They say it's the best selling shoujo, but... I personally, don't like it. Pisses me off. But it's not bad. Perhaps going back and rereading in the future will change my mind.

There's quite a few familiar names in there too, from memory, I can't say that they're what I'm looking for. But then again, I could be wrong. Memory tricks.
