Just out of curiosity, by the notion of imperialism do you mean the US practicing it or disliking it? (Not that it matters much either way, it was just a bit unclear. obviously my opinion's different anyway).

Anyway, yeah, it seems to me that if I don't like something, lazing around and complaining about it is more pathetic than productive, so why not just leave and have it not be my business since I'm not going to fix it anyway?

What I meant is the notion that the U.S. currently practices imperialism, but like you said, we have opposing views, so there is no need to argue.

I also don't like the direction that the country is going in, but I am going to do my best to change it because I love my country so dearly.

Yes I love my country (Finland).
We are the best nation in many things as education and healthcare.
Here even if you are born in poor family you can become anything.

I dont like our current government and how they bow to US and EU though.

I luff my country. The US may not be the best, but it is certainly better than some. ^^ I went somewhere foreign over the summer and I had to eat yogurt for two weeks when I got back. xD I guess that's my stomach's fault, but I still like it over here in the states. 🙂 (though manga is expensive)

I am not a fan of the US. There are many, many reasons for this (not the least of which is my hatred of imperialism), but I'd rather not dig too far into it because it will develop into a very, very long rant that holds little meaning for others.

I'm too lazy (and perhaps realistic) to try to do anything about it, so I'll probably just leave before the rest of the world gets tired of us...

Fair enough. I disagree vehemently about the notion of imperialism, but if you are leaving in the future, Godspeed.

I don't like my country either, and yes, what can we do about it?...
not like I'm planning on being a polition.. I just what to finish studying and leave this place 🤢

Well, I don't really love my country, as in that I'm not a patriotist easily provocated when something bad has been said about their country. Though I do have to admit that I live in a pretty good country.

First of all, all our highways have lanterns(??) on the side of the road, unlike some parts in France or Spain, where when you drive in the dark, you can only rely on the front lights of your car. They say that you can see Belgium twinkling from Space at night.

Also we've got a pretty good education system with an obligatory language pack. As a student, that may be seen as bothersome, but looking at the whole picture it's good to have at least a limited amount of understanding of multiple languages. So, there's almost no way that you can know only one language here in Belgium. Everyone knows at least two.

The health care is definitely great. Depending on what the case is you can get 50% or more refunded from Social Insurance Policy(??), unlike other countries like America where the hospitals are a lot more expensive.

And yes, we do have to pay more taxes for that though, but I still find that a better system than the aforementioned.

And I could go on and on, but I guess that's enough.

I dont mind my country (USA) like the place or the people I know (but my town is a pretty anti-political town, we disagree with everything). as for the country's government and general attitude, I think we (the government mostly) are WAY too full of ourselves.

How so?

well, the fact that we (the government, not residents so no offense to anyone) seem to think we are the only country in the world that can do anything and the rest of the world needs us and that we are the ONLY world power...(I read that in Time, but I dont think that myself. My world affairs teacher enjoys preaching that kind of crap too)

There are some things I like about it. Other time I want to punch it repeatedly in the throat. It's a bit of a love/hate thing.

Well i'm splitted (i'm born in Poland but grew up here in Germany).

So i love Poland in one way - i love the people, the countryside and the mentality. But i would never go back there as there are no or just few jobs.

And that is what i love about Germany - the jobs and the chances you get here. It's much easier to start from Germany to go see the world than it's from poland. but i really hate the german mentality. Most of the german people i know are really bourgeois.

I think for me it's also both - love and hate - both countries

it's a small country in southeast europe, we're not even in the EU...but we have sea, we have mountains, we have all kinds of topography and that's about it...

the government is half retarded half incompetent and all round corrupted...
people are hypocrites, everybody is putting their nose in somebody else's business (but aren't they everywhere), and organized criminal is doing quite well, thanks for asking...
i'm busting my ass 5 years in college only to have paycheck lower then that of a bus driver if i do my job legally (meaning no disregards for bus drivers)...

...but the biggest and most annoying shit is the music, people are listening to something called 'turbo folk music', it can't get more retarded...

but then again i voted for i love my country...most likely it has something to do with european football championship which is coming soon and my patriotism that is reaching dangerously high levels...

...so till there's bread and games we're mostly happy here...
