Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu is overrated. I tried with this series because so many people liked it. Mebbe it could have been better for me if not for all the overhype that raised my expectations too high. 🙄

The most over rated are easily OP, Naruto, Inu, Bleach, pretty much anything that Viz produces and 100000s of slobering kids rape with thier greasy little hands and Hot Topic oversells worse than Star Wars. (a Chewie pez dispencer? WTF!)

Yeah, only 2 or 3 chapters out so far, but for someone to even scanlate this is overrated in my book. Why?.... well, it's from the idiot mangaka that gave us Suzuka. Nothing special from the first 2 chapters, but we all know the guy will probably be a looser and the girl will probably have some form of mental retardation.

Vampire Knight too- its cool but not great..

I do believe Bleach is overrated and so is its main character, sorry, I like Naruto better...both the main guy and the manga..
..and all harem mangas and shoujos with sugary sweet gals chasing after a popular dufus..

Tip to anyone who tries to watch Haruhi- skip the first episode. The story is told anachronologically, so if you have no idea what it's really about and have never been exposed to it before, the first episode will be illogical and make no sense. The first episode is just a movie they made for a class project, none of what happens in it is canon and it consists almost entirely of inside jokes. The rest of the series, however, is excellent, especially when they actually get around to exploring Haruhi's emotions and why she acts the way she does. How much you enjoy it is directly correlated with how bored you are with the ordinary though, or at least that's my experience.

@Gan: It's not as terrible as Suzuka yet, it has the potential either to succeed in typical shounen romance fashion or epic fail, but because it isn't popular at all yet I think calling it overrated is a bit harsh. It feels more like a slightly more perverted I"s to me so far than Suzuka.

I like the first episode, but yeah, it's such a hit or miss. I think after the first ep, I followed the chronological order (yay for wiki having it.)

I sort of think Asano Inio is a bit overated. His stuff is solid and intelligent and worth a read for anyone looking for something different, but it's not exactly life changing or the best stuff out there or whatever else and it's kind of irritating to see his stuff constantly dragged out as an example of what manga should be like (or whatever.)

Not the most overrated, but lately all the fangirling for Strobe Edge is getting on my nerves. It's trite, cliche, standard shoujo that maybe wins a point for art and a another for the girl not falling for her childhood friend (a point it promptly loses by jumping into piles of drama.) I think the only reasons it's got so many 10's is 'cause everyone with better taste is just too lazy to rate it down. I like it, it's cute, but it's totally disposable and pales horribly in comparison to any of the "classic" shoujos.

IDK, in my mind, Dragon Ball is the epitome of a Shonen action manga. It's hard to overrate something that pretty much defines an entire genre.

Ok...most....(well all) of the aforementioned manga are defintely overrated, but it doesn't stop me from reading them. [Their plots are great (in my opinion)]; what makes them overrated is the fact that a lot more people like them (...well thousands of people). Naruto, Bleach, Vampire Knight...and all the rest are pretty great (so give them a try! 😀 ) ....one manga that i will never really defend is Dragon Ball...i mean come on..that's like the king of overrated manga 🤨

(p.s....i luv Sailor Moon...no matter how "overrated" it is! 😛 ....never watch the dubs! 🤢 )

Well, to me the most overrated manga is Prince of Tennis.

And well at least for me Haruhi (anime) is one of the most genial work of the last years, but it needs a little bit of patience and concentration at the start to understand it.
