...You really don't know what shounen and shoujo ai are? -_-;;. They're the same as yaoi and yuri, but less explicit (just for a simple definition).

And because some seinen/josei involves sex/rape, it automatically gets classified as hentai? sigh. Look, you're making really broad assumptions that have little to no basis in reality. The amount of seinen/josei without sexually explicit scenes is definitely much larger than that those have it. And combining any of the four traditional demographics really defeats the purpose of this poll entirely. -_-;;.

You should stop attempting to manipulate it so that things you happen to like end up in first place, and just accept the results.

First, you left out josei, and secondly, do you really think it would be any different? Yaoi and shoujo both have a solid lead over seinen. It should be dead obvious that the fangirl population is much larger. Even if those who voted yaoi were to switch out of that category, it sure as hell wouldn't be to seinen, it would be to shoujo or josei for the vast majority.

No, you're wrong there (well, I suppose I'm just speaking for myself): but I'd definately vote seinen!

What's so amazing about shoujo anyways? The bishies? The romance? (not that all shoujo has romance, but 99% of the ones that I have read does) 🤨
Actually, when it comes to romance, I prefer the seinen ones too. Or josei... but that comes second.

Like I said, majority, I'm not saying it would apply to every single person (just like how every shoujo ai/yuri fan wouldn't switch to seinen/shounen), but it should apply to a larger percentage, given that yaoi is actually aimed at a female audience, unlike bara.

This may not have much to do with anything, but... at first I was surprised by what seemed like a majority of female voters, since 2 of the top 3 categories were aimed at girls/women. But when I added the percentages of all "female-oriented" categories (josei/shotacon/shoujo/shounen ai/yaoi) I got... as of about 5 minutes ago... 47.2%, giving the "male-oriented" categories a slight edge. Of course, this isn't an accurate representation of who reads what or how many voters are M/F, as there is always crossover between intended-demographics. But I thought it was interesting. Maybe. I voted shoujo, by the way.

So, to generalize, the girls are more focused on a couple categories, while the guys are more varied in opinion?

That's entirely dependent upon whether or not you judge hentai as a male-oriented category.

Female:
Yaoi- 19.9
Shounen ai- 3.4
Shoujo- 18.9
Josei- 4.7
Shotacon (presumably, anyway)- 0.9
Total: 47.8

Male total is conversely 52.2% subtracting hentai's 10.5, giving 41.7%

Now, I would say that from a general standpoint, it's probable that hentai attracts at least a 66% male audience, but because it isn't actually targeted at a specific gender (and there are girls who read hentai), you can't do an accurate breakdown with its somewhat enigmatic presence. However, if even 1/5 of the total of the hentai readers are, in fact, female then the girls top 50%, and I'd be willing to bet decent money on that. Of course, this is just the people more likely to be attracted to certain demographics, I don't know if statistically girls who like hentai are more likely to like shounen or whatever, there are a lot of external factors.

Wow. That was way too much ranting for such a simple statement... I need to go do something more productive...
