Yeah, that never ceases to amaze me, too. Just like how Grand Fisher was already "arrancarized" by Iceringer and D-Roy in Chapter 24.
I don't think I have seen the answer what "that" was in the anime either oô

his super vast reiatsu keeps it constantly like that. it takes spirit force to keep a zanpakuto in released form (shikai or bankai). i guess he would explode if his powers were compressed. remember the thing that ishida said at the beginning when ichigo was fighting the gillian? he said that reiatsu output could be compared to a tap. when the tap is on full force for too long, it will run out. in ichigo's case, the tap is barely dripping and his spirit force is overwhelming

Here's a question:
So in order to be admitted into The Gotei 13, all shinigamis are suppose to graduate/attend the Shinigami Academy, right? So how is it that Yumichika and Ikkaku were admitted into the 11th division?

And are we really suppose to believe that even Yamamoto doesn't know of Yumichikas' zanpakutō? 😕

Yamamoto isn't all-knowing. It's not like a company boss knows the full extent of each employer's abilities.

And hmm, the Zaraki flashback arc was filler, so you have to take it in with a bit of salt.

Ahhh, so i was watching the new anime episode, and they revealed Kensei's(sp?) zanpactuo(sp?!)'s name, but i don't think it was ever said in the manga....wtf?

And Why is Aizen so strong?

I heard a theory that he is part of the royal family and just got kicked out or some shit.

I never read the beginning of Bleach since I was introduced to it through the anime and just started reading from the HM arc...maybe that's why I never really understood the whole modified souls storyline. Were they once human? They basically have a human body and the appearance of a human except for Kon, or are they just souls occupying a body? And what happened to the other modified souls? I read somewhere that there were more. I'm not so clear on their history.

Modified souls are artificial souls created by Soul Society researchers. Though after a while they found it too unethical so they ordered to destroy them all. Kon is one of the few that remains.

The three other ones that you mentioned aren't humans. They have artificial human bodies which they can use so that they won't gain much attention. Their essence is a pill which most of the times get put in a plushie.

Most modified souls have a special ability, that of Kon is having powerful legs (jumping really high, able to break railways, running fast).

Mod souls were artificial souls intended to inhabit corpses (or inanimate objects, i.e. Kon) in order to combat Hollows whenever Shinigami weren't around. They're called Mod Souls since they modify a part of the human body for combat purposes. For Kon, he has greater leg strength. The reason they're rare is because Soul Society debated on whether the use of corpses to fight hollows was ethical or not , and decided to eliminate all of the mod souls in the end. Some survived, like Kon and whatever the shinigami used. Chapter 15 has the quickie explanation of the whole thing as well.
