This week's simple poll is from Vesey. You ever pay for manga? Doesn't matter the amount (although feel free to comment about that).

Yes, I paid for physical copies of manga before. I currently own ... a bit over 100 volumes of several manga .... Man that's a lot of money for an average of $10 a pop.
I have never brought a digital manga before, and probably won't in the future either....
Yes yes, I know I make longwinded comments, but that's just me >.<
I should proof read my comments more, but I won't...
So keep in mind I'm filled with typos

Gets expensive over time.
One thing I wished about digital manga was that they were actually much cheaper than they are now. I'm willing to shell out for a physical copy, but when companies make the digital not that much cheaper, it just never seems worth it. ($1+ per chapter adds up!) Nevermind the companies that have shitty online readers or force you to read through their app (for manga you paid for!).

I think I have more than 300 volumes of manga.
Most of them are in English and in my native language but some are in Japanese.
Some were bought at full price, most were at a discount (all of the English ones since they cost about 20 dollars which is way too much) and some were even used copies.
I have never bought a digital copy of a manga and probably never will.

In one volume by Yumeka Sumomo. One volume. Man, I feel guilty... but I partially blame the manga industry in my country! If there were other works (even in english!) that I love (not so famous mangakas, stories ou even genres like seinen/josei/yaoi), I would totally pay for it (exactly the reason why I bought the only volume by Yumeka: I love her art).
Edit: I could try online, but I don't have a international card and it takes months... plus taxes!

Last time I counted, I believe I owned about 260+ volumes of English-translated manga, and 28 Japanese tankoubon. ...Ironically, the doujinshi I have probably add up to cost more. Lots and lots.
I've reached around 3000 volumes read though (about 2200 of those recorded on booklog). And there are still lots of series I want to buy. I don't have the money or the space right now, though. :c

I think I own about 15 volumes, but I haven't bought any for years - I have no permanent residence so really nowhere to store it, and buying just to resell is a huge nuisance. I do, however, have plans to buy a bunch of manga when I do get a permanent residence (hopefully not for another 20 or 30 years). Though probably some of them will be out of print by then...

I've bought a lot in the past, but haven't bought any for years now. I plan to buy the japanese ones of my favorite series in the future though.

I have quite a few, both in English and Japanese. The Japanese ones I got for super cheap at Book Off though (like 100 yen cheap). Most of them I bought in my teen years, I don't buy them very often anymore; just the ones I really like and want to support.
I'm really surprised at how many have never paid for it though. No wonder companies like Tokyopop have gone out of business.

It is surprising how many people never paid before. I have not bought any in awhile but that only cause I need money for overly expensive textbooks. I only have physical copies.

I have all the english volumes of Yotsuba&, a few each of Naruto, Parasyte, Gunslinger Girl, Scott Pilgrim, Nightschool, Inukami. I have at least 1, maybe 2 Large sterilite boxes of SJ issues. I was more than happy to sign up for SJ Alpha (digital), since my local bookstore closed, and our Wal-Mart and Target carried Jump irregularly, at best. I jumped at the chance to support Crunchyroll's manga offering, as well.

Yes, I've purchased 3 official translated English mangas and some Japanese mangas for studying Kanji.
I only buy Official English translated manga of my favorite Mangaka/Series. (for instance Barakamon.)
Though it costs me $10+ per volume, it's worth it to buy since it supports the mangaka you like. 😉
Yeah I've bought a few series I know I enjoyed and would read again, because nothing beats reading a physical book.
I'm stopping getting any more new series though. I don't have the space, so I'm just buying the ones that are unfinished. Waiting for new releases 'n stuff so yeah. Gotta support the industry.
