I think it'd be interesting to see the kid going through gaming withdrawals in jail. That would be funny stuff. lol
Still, the situation on a whole sucks. But I blame both the poor parents and that screwed up kid.

A lot of hate for the parents, huh?
I wont say that environment has nothing to do with how you turn out, but there's also a chance he was just plain fucked up to start with.
Either way, he needs to be held accountable for his actions, so I'm glad he can be tried for it.

I don't understand why some people get so obsessed with gaming, but I guess that it happens everywhere. (For instance there was a news story of a kid running away because his parents got rid of his x box and he was found dead from dehydration in Canada) I think that the kid might have had some kind of mental condition (just maybe?) and that you would have to be as intelligent as a brick to not notice that your child is way to obsessed with that game. What could the parents have done? Reasonably they could have seen the symptoms of obsession and maybe taken the family to some kind of family help doctor.
We are most definitely not getting the whole story so we don't know if something similar had happened before (like him threatening his parents) or if his murdering his father was out of the blue. It was probably a mixture of the kid and the parent's fault, but the parent's should have done something sooner.

The boy is old enough to be charged with murder under Russian law.
And this means what? I see really stupid comments in here. The boy is obviously not on his right mind and needs professional help. What does putting him into prison help? For some reason everyone here are assuming that the boy was sane—just a real asshole or really hated his parents.
In a situation like this the thing to do isn't to say "oh, how horrible" or something of the sort, but to start thinking why there was something wrong with that boy, what caused it, and how to fix things so that it doesn't happen again. This topic is pointless, it's just entertainment. So are those news. Entertainment news. If you've ever read dystopian novels, you might have realized that usually they're just telling how things are now, but in extreme (how they could very likely be in near future).
Far-off places with sweet sounding names.

I thought the same, I mean, its almost blatantly obvious there is something wrong with this kid mentally. Its almost classic dissociative behavior of someone with schizoid personality disorder or maybe even aspergers.

Well "In teory" minors dont go to jail because they are in an age that their minds can still be shaped into the rigth way without going to jail

I agree that he needs professional help and that he shouldn't go to prison. Although, I do think that he should be separated from other people that he could harm. If he has a mental condition and it doesn't get treated than what would prevent him from doing it again. He should either go to a hospital to get treated (if this can be treated) or somewhere else with people that can help him deal with his issues.

I thought that as well.
People always want to blame something or someone else instead of the actual person that committed the crime. Saying that games or bad parenting is the cause is just an excuse.

Wow... Erm, I'm sure there was some sort of parenting issue involved, but that kid himself is seriously screwed up.
Ugh. I can see people blaming only the video game for this. 😐

Actually. He fell out of a tree. Which, personally, made me laugh. Who the hell runs away from home (I'll have you know that where he lived was the definition of NOWHERE), climbs a tree, and then dies from falling out of a tree? That is a fail at living. The fact that he ran away because his game was taken away? Makes it even funnier.
