A terrible story emerging from Russia details the story of a 14-year old boy reacting to having his videogame privileges revoked by killing his sleeping father with two blows to the head from a sledge hammer.

The events took place in the Russian town of Tuapse just after midnight on April 12, reports a story on News.com.au. The boy’s parents had taken his keyboard away from him in order to curb his computer game playing, but after the killing, “the boy's frightened mother gave him the keyboard back and the boy played computer games for several more hours until he fell asleep.”

Once the boy fell asleep, his mother called relatives, who, in turn, called police. The boy is old enough to be charged with murder under Russian law.

I wonder how much of that has to do with parenting.
That kid obviously has problems.
The ability to kill anyone, let alone a parent at all, is unsettling.
The fact that it was over a game is worse.

The worst part is that he did it with a sledgehammer.
Thats a lot of freaking blood and gore.

AND THEN HE PLAYED AGAIN.
What he do? Go back on WOW to his friends "Yeah my dads a dick."

So who is there to really blame? The game or the bad parenting? ._.

This will probably add another case to that 'banning of games for minors' they're trying to pull through.

People shouldn't judge WHOLE DEMOGRAPHICS just by outliers.

The people who do can't see the forest through the trees...

On the individual case, yeah, that guy was messed up, period. The dad might have been an inconsiderate bastard too, so I don't know. shrug At the end of the day, murder just shouldn't be done. I don't care how much you hate the person.

This incident just further proves that it's not the games themselves that make people do things like this, but that person's mental health. If games are truly the cause of violence today as these politicians and activists say they are, then there would've been TONS more people dead or in jail right now.

That's freaky. I hate my dad, but I don't think I would be mad enough to kill him to that extent. And over a video game no less. 🙄

whoooowee talk about hardcore gamer 🤣
"He dun take my game, I'm gon kill dat sun'o bitch, wheres my sledge hammer ?" 🤣

lets not forget Manhunt here people, that was the first game to show people how to kill proparly. It is still in shelves.
NO Murder? No muder in games? No murder in movies? We all guna be one pg freaking ban loving country that can't have anything kill related?

I'll tell you what is bad, there was a novel made in the 90s about how to kill people, make money and get away with it. It taught you how to make silences, how to kill anonymous people for money and how to leave no traces. Now people started to use that book and it mostly worked...They banned it but you can still search for it on ebay. 😲

Games don't train assasins like that, they have an age rating and that boy was 14. just got to take the age rating more seriously? Infact games are stoping crimes! How so? People stay indoors more instead of in the streets causing havoc for fun.

I believe in letting people do as they wish, as do I myself. Sometimes, of course, what I wish to do is kill them and they do not wish to die. This gives life interest.

Ok the kid must have issues if he wasn't phased by the fact that he just murdered someone and continues to play his games...

How come shit like this get to the world news... and a gang of 7 serial murderer teens (bellow 16), that killed Taxi drivers and had sex on the poor bastards pools of blood doesn't?

Parents NEED to work most of the day, and when they get home, they are too tired to use discipline until is too late... is not the parents, not the game... is society as a whole.

Hmmm... I actually don't believe this is the full story.

There must have been various signs of the boy's emerging violent behaviour before... most likely, either no one noticed it or they pretended not to see it. If it's someone with very very poor self-control and who gradually formed an addiction to violence, you can figure out it's only time until they move from more and more violent acts until it turns out into addiction to murder(animals, then humans or just going straight to the process of killing humans).

There're probably so many other possible reasons: a pity the media will probably screw up the issue and start playing psychologist(or was that psychiatrist?).

O_O thats just wrong... everything in the situation is dead wrong.. but no one is too blame but teh people.. its not the circumstances or the game but the people... i mean.. the game is just there.. its only a thing to make people happy... the circumstances is just plainly molded by people ... so anyways... the parents may probably be wrong so there is still the option that the parents are good parents but even though the parents are good... things can still go wrong i mean there are still the circumstances that are molded by the kid by his actions and then probably backfired at him and made him kill his own father... with a sledgehammer...

mental image: crushed skull... dripping blood... popped eyeballs.... and thr still covered in blood playing in front of teh computer...

frightening aint it?? 🤢

I'm glad he can be charged with murder. There's not much information there but I wouldn't be surprised if there was somthing wrong with the kid that had nothing to do with how he was raised.

I wonder what the hell the kid was actually playing. I mean, his parents take away his keyboard so he isn't playing said game, he kills the dad with a frickin' sledge hammer, gets the keyboard back, and plays some more until he falls asleep? That kid either needs some serious help or some serious jail time.

gah.
and the parents never thought that their kid, that was obviously obsessed with this game (if they took away his keyboard, then they should have known something was wrong with the kid) might react badly to them taking it from him?

then again, to run that far away from reality, it must have been more than the game that sent him off to kill his dad. i dont think the press is telling the whole story either.

and then it will all be blamed on a game, because they cant blame the dead father. >_>
violent media content affects to raise violent intentions only in people who already had those intentions in the first place, is what i think.

maybe the kid went from anger management using a game, to a full blown attack because his means were removed?
