I don't believe in IQ tests. my scores ranged from 120-150 when I took different ones, shows how inaccurate those things are. Moreover, I don't believe being book-smart is too important at all in life. This is why I hope to achieve sort of a world-smart trait. (not happening so far)
That is the exact reason why i said i don't fully Doubt their intellect here, cause i have seen quite a few people that know things that only life could teach them and know barely anything that books could teach them, IQ tests are pretty useless, since i really doubt that someones intelligence could be fully analyzed by a simple test such as that.
what i meant with the IQ thing was, i doubt that people are really as "book smart" as the Tests would portray if they were even the slightest amount accurate.

Haha, my friends hate me for this, but I'm the kind of person who rarely turns in their homework just to see what they can get away with, ...but then I get A+ s for almost all my tests (never get below a B+) just cause I can remember it on paper.
lol, that's how i was in highschool. i was top of my class for junior and senoir high, and barely did a thing. i even got excepted to three different schools with scholarships, but i don't like bragging about stuff so i usually keep quiet about being smart (and i'm a introvert to boot, so people get the idea that i'm actually stupid )
😛
really? where I go to high school, if you are quiet, then that makes you the "smart quiet girl" ar the "smart quiet boy". no names. just titles.

i voted for only in some classes (situations), cause i can be dumbest of them all and sensitive as a brick wall...also i'm pretty lazy...and i agree that the life experience is important, coz i had the best grades, but when i did my part time jobs i was pretty much the dumbest person around
regarding the iq tests...i had a college entrance exam which had amongst other things iq test and there were bunch of people with 1000 pages and more iq test example books still looking at the examples just as the exam started...I on the other hand never had an iq test and for me the definition of intelligence as ability to adapt to new situations was pretty much ruined...still i passed with flying colors (said with nose high up)...thank God for math and physics 🙂
in high school my favorite subject was pe...worst were biology, chemistry... 😀

People say i'm smart and I get good grades but personally I think i'm average. Itsjust that at my elementary school, nobody was allowed to think that they were stupid. Thats was not acceptable. No teacher would ever go easy on grading or would ever accept that any student couldn't handle the work. Eventually I just got used to it.
I think that anybody could be "smart" if they grew up in an environment that wouldn't allow them to consider themselves stupid. I know alot of people who say, "oh i'm bad at xxxxx." At my school they would have been told, "no, you may have to study more than others but you can still be good at it... its not a race. Being good at it doesn't mean you can finish it faster than the next person."

Judging how smart or dumb somebody is based on their grades is truly retarded. Not everybody puts the same amount of effort into their work. It's entirely possible to be lazy and brilliant and slide by with a C.
I remember during high school I got a C because I didn't turn in a single piece of homework the entire school year, but I aced the tests.
Even IQ tests are laughable.
In my opinion the best way to gauge somebody's intelligence is to observe how they live their life and what decisions they make. If somebody shoots a firecracker from their ass, they're probably not very bright. If somebody decides to invest all of their money into a single high risk stock, they're probably not very bright.

I'm considered smart school wise, but in real life situations I'd say no. I also can't spell very well and i usually need someone to explain jokes to me and stuff.... So basically if you ever talked to me or met me you'd think I'm pretty dumb, but if you saw my grades you'd think I'm smart.

thats dumb in itself. not turning things in because you are just lazy (which I admit I do myself) is DUMB. so basically, if you just dont turn stuff in, in a way, that is being dumb. it may not be the same kind of smart, but it still is smart to put in effort. thats why the grading system is NOT retarded. why would you 'just slide by' if you were really that smart?

I realized that what I was learning in that class had absolutely zero relevance to my future, I realized it was a pointless class, and so I treated it as such.
They asked me to waste my free time doing drills on material I already knew in a class I shouldn't have been forced to take in the first place, and I responded "Why?"
I did not hear an answer.
Should I have forced myself against my will to waste my time for a slightly higher GPA? No thank you. Especially when my SAT scores were high enough to get me into college. I worked less, still got into college for the program I wanted, and I formed friendships/memories with my extra time.
People grow up being taught to work very hard all of their life for the cake at the end of the tunnel, but the tunnel goes on forever if you allow it too. I understood there's more to living than being a perfectionist and working yourself to death.
If you grasp that early you'll reduce your stress and live longer.
The point of life isn't to make as much money as possible, many people waste their entire lives "working for the straight A's of life", and it's sad, because they miss out on so much living

I guess I would consider myself smart because I do pretty well in classes. Still, I'm incredibly lazy and I improvise a lot when doing homework or other type of work. I also leave everything for the last minute... so I really don't know how I get good grades...

Some people think I'm smart. I've had professors tell me I was really intelligent. Some friends far as to tell me they think I'm a genius, and they're jealous.
I don't think I'm smart though. I'm certainly not the best student in the world. I do ok, A's and B's usually. But my focus is like lighting bursts. It comes and goes like that, and I have absolutely no control. Sometimes I'm there, the next minute I realize I'm daydreaming and in my own little world. Drives me nuts. It's really hard for me to work quickly and efficiently. And it's really hard for me to write anything. I reword myself so many times that even a few sentences can take me hours. Sigh. And I burn myself out thinking. Sometimes I just think about working on something, and thinking about how long it will take and everything I have to do and I end up in tears about how hard it is, and I haven't even started working on it. And I think, damn wouldn't everything be easier if I just did what I need to do? But I can't seem to just do what I need to do. And it causes me great anxiety. And I figure if I was actually really smart, I would have more control over my brain and spend my time more wisely.
