No, seriously. I want to ask : guys, do stupid girls appeal to you? gals, are stupid girls cute?
I suppose the answer would be "NO". So why on earth are shoujo manga girls so annoyingly annoyingly stupid and clumsy? And by stupid I don't mean naive, I mean plain stupid - the sort that makes you want to pull your hair off.

(Although there are exceptions like skip beat etc. this usually is the case)

Nope. Stupid is stupid, and cute is cute.
Stupid characters are so annoying- I can't for the life of me imagine why authors / mangaka include such people in stories and actually seem to expect readers to like them. It's okay if a character is not intelligent- so long as their idiocy is prevented from getting in the way of plot development; but in most stories, that is not the case, and it just results in people giving up the manga in exasperation.
(And by the way- Skip Beat! is pretty annoying, imo)

Some stupic characters can be cute, at least for me. Anyways, it's not the stupidity what makes them cute, they are cute and stupid 🤣

Well, the word "stupid" gives off a negative feeling and probably nobody would admit that stupid characters are cute. But when you replace with, for example, "a little silly" it sounds different, though it means the same.
But to me, all silly/stupid characters are annoying. There's plenty of characters who are cute without behaving like idiots.

There ain't nothing wrong =D It's how the most number of people like it, that's all, so most stories are like that. It's not all just stupid=cute, though it may happen quite a few times...

Well, to be frank, sometimes I find ditzy kind of endearing-- especially those who really mean well. As long as they have some redeeming qualities and aren't hopelessly silly, then it's cool.

as to answer the question why shoujo girls are stupid and happen to be cute well.. thats actually been asked many times.. i know and i think that the reason for that is so that most girls can relate cause most of the people who read mangas are looking for an escapism from the harsh reality...

i think its based on the culture... remember in kimi wa petto?? the guy cant stand his too smart independent girl and he took off with a dumber one, which according to him is cuter?? anyways... i think its something like that..

No 😐 If you mean dorky stpid (like Lovely Complex) then it's cute. If you mean the cliche shoujo stupid girls that know nothing about how to behave, how others feel (not only the boy she likes), then it's damn annoying. The I-don't-know-he-likes-me is sometimes acceptable, Hana Kimi for example. And several times the character herself is annoyingly stupid, but the story's humor (or something else) saves her.

There aren't that many seriously idiotic girls in shoujo. Naive, yes, but not necessarily stupid.

What bothers me are those squishy, childlike, borderline-retarded "moe" types in otaku manga. Since when is developmental disorder a requirement for attractiveness?

Yeah I do, if by stupid you mean airheads. Anyway, I don't perceive them as such.
