I understand, read, write, speak perfectly:
French (coz im french duuh)
**Arabic **(coz my mom is lebanese so i learned it very early and i studied it at school too)
English (at first it was self-teached with the english music lyrics and movies and then i studied it at school)
Oh well, its pretty common for a lebanese to know at least arabic, french and english....
I also learned Spanish when i was in 8th grade to 10th grade (3 years). I can understand a few words, but i forgot how to speak it!!! Too bad....

I know two, English and Vietnamese. But I know tidbits of japanese, korean, and some spanish that I learned in school ^_^ does that count as 5? Haha, I guess not
I'm jealous you people on this forum! Knowing 5 languages...I wish my high school gave classes like japanese or korean, but no, they only have spanish, german, and french. I'm definitely signing up for jap and kor classes when i get older.

To all the guys here mentioned learning languages to hit on women,
It doesn't matter how many languages you speak, buy enough champagne or vodka and you'll get any woman in bed. If they don't drink, then they're not worth it.

First language is Chinese because I'm Chinese and my parents always speak that. The Chinese that I speak is Cantonese. I would love to learn Mandarin. My parents know how to speak it because it was required in school in China.
Second language is English. Reason, school.
Third is French from middle school, but they took that out of the curriculum, shich leads to the next language.
Fourth is Spanish and I still take that in high school.
Fifth, would be Japanese, but I only know a little bit.

I really hate that I can only speak one language, but on my iGoogle, I have the word of the day in at least four languages, so I really would like to be a polyglot one day.

I was raised to speak two languages. English, and Russian since my dad refused to speak English.
But I also had to learn French for school. So I count that too. I'm somewhat fluent in it, I would just like to be able to use it.

hihihihi talking about this in the shout yesterday...!
I voted for three, since I'm very fluent only in the first three (and Latin is pointless, anyway):
- Italian (obviously)
- English (lived in the States for a few years)
- French (studied it for six years: I understand it, can read/write, but I do have some trouble talking)
- Latin (WTF? I know. But it's compulsive for six years at least. What's the point in knowing Latin? No idea.)
- Pig-Latin (yeah!)
I understand (but do not speak) Spanish, mostly, and I started studying Japanese last year. But I'm still at the "Konnichiwa. Watashi wa Emilia desu." level. ^^

... I feel like I've just had my Japanese book quoted to me. I can't even reach it right now. And as for Latin, I think it would be nice to learn it if only because it's the basis for some of our current words.

But my goal is to master them by two years from now. <3
