I guess the first choice are all Americans 🤣
🤣 Most likely.
In many schools you have to learn a language but most people forget when they're done. Also, depending where you live, there is no need to ever speak another language and not much chance of practicing a real conversation. Even when traveling abroad people expect everyone else to know English anyway.
My first language is English.
I took French in school so I can hold a basic conversation if I tried.
I can understand Tagalog but I don't speak it very well.
I took Japanese for a year but I forgot most of it.

I guess I know two. English and Cantonese. Though I can't read or write Cantonese... I plan too.

Chose 5+, Just because I can 😛
Swedish, English are mandatory in Sweden. And as an option I picked German which is a bit rusty now though since I never use it...
Learning Japanese just for fun. Were working a bit on elvish but didn't have much need for it so I dropped it. Not counting that one. Also were close to moving to France, but decided not to. And since Swedish is similar to Norwegian (and Danish) I'll count that one in as well. So there's 5.
I've always been interested in knowing lots and lots of languages, and I seem to learn new ones easily. But I lack the motivation to go through with it. Especially when it comes to term words like pluperfect etc just for the reason of learning. Boring. 🤢
The hard part is keeping them separate, I once started talking Japanese to a German without noticing 🙄
Annoys me a bit when people can't even bother to learn their own language.. <.< Or those that write things like "u"(you) or "b4"(before) etc etc... It's not about speed, it's just pure laziness -.-'
This life sucked. Where's the reset button?

Hmm... although it shouldn't be my main language, it is which is Swedish, then Arabic and English. I'm fluent in all three of them. Also since they're similar to Swedish, I can understand a bit Norwegian and Danish.
And then I have studied German, I can speak a little but not fluently. But like Aenonar it's getting a bit rusty since I don't use it either...
But if we're counting languages we're familiar with too then I studied Latin, Italian and Ancient Greek too in school, but forgotten almost all of it 😛 . Also, easier Japanese sentences...
Hmm... I would say 4 languages whereas 3 in which I'm fluent in ( I voted 4 ). But 10 in total... 🤨

Loooooool! Nice!
Does that make me a freak then? Or maybe just 1/3 true cosmopolitan 😛
But I actually like languages, wish I could speak more languages fluently, and hopefully when I have the time I will start learning a new language..

I know 2 languages. I'm fluent in English and I'm currently learning Japanese (I'm pretty ok on the grammar and the sentence structure part, now I need to work on learning vocabulary).

I speak English like a pro (my native language)
And a little bit of French because of where I live (French is required in school) and because of ballet classes.
I know a couple of phrases in Dutch, and can follow a conversation, but not actually participate.
So kind of... 1.5?
I really admire people who can speak so many languages fluently!
Korean, Spanish and a bit of French. Learning any more would be futile.^^

I can read write and speak in ->
1> English
2> Bengali
3> Hindi
4> Sanskrit
Though Bengali is my Mother Tounge, I prefer English to be my first Language... that's what I started using when I was very small... I picked up Bengali cause I was living in a place full of Bengalis... Then Dad got transferred to a place full of Hindi speaking people and thats where I picked up pretty good Hindi from.
I also picked up some German from my Dad 😃 and right now I'm learning Japanese (The Kanji is killing me... 🤢 )
And for the record... I had three Languages in School - English Hindi and Sanskrit... but I never passed any Hindi Test/Exam in my life and I failed 50% of the Sanskrit ones... Failed English just once, that too cause I... well... did something bad to the English Teacher... 😛
And do Dialects count? 😕
Cause if they do, I know Like three Dialects of Hindi and two of Bengali alone...
