Mac VS PC

Pc ftw! I've used Macs, I love the idea, but I'm so used to PC that it just seems more difficult. Plus windows 7 gives me all the parts of Mac I like without the parts I don't.
I'm a PC user myself, but I'm looking to get myself a Mac laptop. Macs are great for designing stuff, and that's what I'm planning to use it for.
I've always used a PC, but I have messed around with a Mac before and I do like how it works. I could easily switch.

The only reason I would consider a mac is for graphic art: photoshop runs like a beast on windows sometimes.
But first and foremost, I am a gamer, and a mac just doesn't compare to an Alienware.

Okay, what in the world is Linux?
I've been a PC all my life but this summer I got a Mac. There are large differences but seriously speaking they're both not that different.
As to which one I prefer, I'm in between. There are functions I like on a PC and functions I like on a Mac.
My friend's PC was being stupid and I helped her fix it even though I'm a "Mac" now.
I would like to think I'm pretty tech savvy. (:
P.S. I think the one click mouse on a Mac but you can still "right" click is stupid and confusing.

what is Linux are os written by individuals and most are open source. Many linux exists. Linux is free. And big software companies use linux to make their softwares because linux is easier, faster, more efficient in comparison to mac or pc....if you know what you are doing. To me Linux=how window should be without all the graphics, interface, and crap software that's dragging it down.

Well,
PC = Personal Computer, which means Macs are PC's as well, technically speaking.

Kinda correct. Nowadays that's valid but Macs used to have a different architecture than regular PCs(or IBM PCs) on the Power and PowerPC era of Macintosh, so if talking about older Macs they are not PCs per-se.
on the present everything is based on the same architecture, only the OS changes, so the poll should be between OS X(or Mac OS X), MS Windows and Linux(there are others, but they are far more uncommon)

The term "Personal Computer" has absolutely nothing to do with Intel/AMD architecture.
Anyways, I blame the OP for not replacing PC with Windows in the thread title.

You're both right, in a way.
Pedro definition is referring to IBM Compatible PC, which refers to the architecture. The current Wintel architecture is still based mostly on the original IBM PC. The term PC became synonymous with this architecture, mainly a marketing ploy to differentiate themselves from competing personal computers such as Amiga/PowerPC/NeXT. Mac played up to this differentiation later on with there whole Mac vs PC campaign. Though in technical terms they are both PCs. So in summation fuck marketing people. 🤣

the PC in PowerPC is NOT Personal Computer, it means Performance Computing, otherwise I believe Rob1988's post covers everything.

mac:
well as an actual computer teck (well an intern for now) I always go with and recomend windows's. while i admit that macs are nice for some things (almost all of which pc can do better) i dont like to pay more for less power. the two bid advantages to pc's are that 1: microsoft only sells the operating system and not all the hardware (as in the actual computer parts not the software) so that means you can look around (or build your own which if you can is always the best and thats why me and ever other teck i work with has windows and a costom build computer) and find much better deals than mac, which only allows there os to be sold with there hardware too. And 2: macs dont allow users to make there own programs; in other words if you want to write a program for mac you have to buy there 1000$ program building software, then you have to write the program, then you have to send it in to them and pray that they think you program is worthy (which they never do, thats why they have only about 30 programs). with a windows you can just write it then run it (thats why there are thousands of windows programs).
so windows are cheaper (built a nice gaming computer for around 500$) and they have way more software then mac not to mention more functions.
linex:
and linex is good for some stuff but there are more for ether bussneses (better secuity because its so rarely used and because its usually costomly programed, thats why banks almost always use linex) or you just really want to program your own/ stick it to the man.
note: oh and pcs are personal computers which include mac's, you ment to say windows 😀
