i was wondering (and can't help noticing all the mixed opinions) what with all the publisher crap that's been happening what would you do if MU got shut down?
me personally i would stop completely (or at least try) because that basically how i find new series and see the next chapter in the old ones
EDIT:i just wanted to say that i agree that i don't want this site take down either this is just a what if kinda thing

Cry myself to sleep for a while.
But the manga community would continue on.
The head is the scanlating community. The body is the fanbase. And the legs are the sites and such. Though MU is over half of the legs... As long as you don't cut the head off, it will continue to move.

That would seriously hurt the manga industry.
I'm pretty sure this is how most people find manga.
But I doubt they would close this site down.

the possibility is too frightening to even envision.
probably take a break from manga for a while to see if i could rehabilitate from my addiction and dependence on it...most likely i'll try to live off my archive of completed manga while checking back @ MU's website everyday for any glimpse of hope....

Stop reading manga pretty much. MU helps me find updated series and keeps track of the manga I have read so far. I started reading manga this year so it won't be hard stopping for me, however manga has kept me from boredom from time to time. I'll probably just move on to gaming to fill the void.

At some point, we'll get unneeded attention...This is unavoidable. However, we might be able to live through it, without taking drastic measures.

2nd option for me.
I'm not into this boycotting thing; but if they're gonna be so mule-headed as to take down the website which supports their business the most, they don't deserve my money.
Why in the world would they want to shut down MU? You guys have never hosted any scans!
If I couldn't find another series database like mu, I'd most likely stop reading manga entirely and just go back to books.
I would be incredibly sad, though. 🙁

rage, and cry. then look up every single scanlators that i usually visit and bookmark them. at worse, rely on Manga Jouhou.
but as many has expressed, MU's a database site, one that leechers AND publishers can use to their advantage. i see no likely reasons, not after the site's no download links in the releases page policy has taken effect weeks ago, for publishers to ask this site to shut down.
but i'm prepared for the worst.....

Go to IRC...
Though, if the site went down, the releases might still be able to show up on the site's Channel (with some slight modifications). Of course, there would be no guaranty that Manick will keep the channel, if someone with power asked him to remove the site.

They can't kill mangaupdates. Publishers should know a bad move when they see them... One site down, another will pop up. It'll be like punching the clouds.
With all these legal hijinks I'm so glad I stockpiled a few GB of manga in my drive :3

I still think MU is in the grey area since the merely give info on who release what without giving any real links, so the site should be ok, for now. Hopefully.
