What do you do when you burn yourself while cooking?

A few minutes ago, I spilled hot boiling water all over my arm while making ramen 😲 My arm currently stings like crazy from the aloe vera gel I put on it, but I was wondering if anyone knows a better method to soothe burns or something along those lines. Any suggestions? 😕

When you burn yourself you must kep the burnt under cold tap water for 15 to 20 minutes to prevent the burn from going deeper, just a few seconds isn't enough. Afterwards you can apply some soothing cream and clean bandages if the skin isn't broken, or disinfectant and clean bandages if it is.
I always use this when i burn myself with the oven and I haven't had a single serious burn ever since. Thanks to the emergency room training period.

Yep loupiotte is right just keep it under the tap for as long as you can and then it should be fine to apply anti burn cream or whatever. I'm not very careless so i've only been burned once and cold water is fine and guess what no scars 😛

...Oops. Maybe I should have listened to my mom when she told me to do that 😀

actually not really cold water but juts normal temperature!!
too cold is bad.
and another good trick if you just touched something hot ,but didnt seriously burn, is to hold your earlobs. since they are the coldest part of the body..
I tend to hop around swearing, before crawling to the fire extinguisher to stop the fire spreading from the first half of my house. Damn Microwaveable popcorn. >:-(

I hate burns 🤢 , Loupiotte gave a nice guide, but if the burn was big I'd probably head to the emergency room anyway 😃
@Juneau Yeah I got burned by Microwave popcorn once !!! Is that common among otaku's? (by the way how did you get fire?)

Burnt my leg on my mopeds muffler yesterday (some parts burned quite deep) 😲 , left a nice about 8cm long marks on the skin, went home fast and kept it under cold shower for about 30m and then used some cream for damaged skin on it. Doesn't hurt anymore and I think it's not dangerous to let it heal naturally from this part onwards (got no idea is it or is it not) 😛 . oh yeah, you're not supposed to use too high water pressure on burnt skin since it can shed the skin from top of the flesh if the skin has broken already, I think.

Sometimes swearing helps, too. 🤣

I got a special Balm from Taiwan, that treats burn and bruises. It's made of Bee wax. 😛

And don't use too cold water or you can get "cold burns"(or whatever it's called) 😛
