Yup everyone avoids him like the plague. However his stories are truly crazy yet interesting. Like he read a hindu book, decided to become a vegetarian and so he killed all the animals on the farm he lives at and burned them. And the reason was cause he doesn't eat animal products anymore. 21st century or the stone ages right? 🤣

You got onto the computer and went on the forum... you're fine. Minor burns are nothing, as long as you do not see formation of puss or any other signs of infections it'll heal sooner than you'd figure.

What you should worry about are burns from oil, etc. hydrogen bonding gives water high specific heat capacity, which means it does not burn you as much as something like oil would have.

He could have at least sold them all and bought supplies for a veggie garden 🙂

Apparently if you run your burnt hand right under cool water as soon as you burn it, it won't be affected at all. I did that and now my hand is perfectly fine 😃 You can't even tell I spilled hot boiling water all over it! 😀
I wonder if the aloe vera cooling gel helped at all...?

Well this guy seems like a nutcase anyhow. I was thinking that even though Hindus don't eat products from animals, they don't slaught them. Or maybe the book was written by a nutcase too? But for the financial part, yeah, the guy could've just sold the cattle and the farm could've been used for growing crops, or at least I would think a farm could do the latter anyways.

Anyhow, concerning being burned, although most of the advice here could be correct or not correct (why did one say the water have to be room temperature to deal with a burn instead of cold water? Does cooling/freezing one's hand hurt that much? And using toothpaste may work but if it's bad enough to go to the emergency room they might not be happy since they will have to take time to clean off the wound and so that would increase the chances of getting an infection). I wonder how much better an article on wikiHow would've compared to the answers given...

But I think for the food industry, especially the ones that probably deal with frying, the advice is run your hand under cold water for several minutes (I don't know if it was 10 or the exactly number of minutes for sure). I got burned with coffee and I think it took me about a minute to get to the sink (the place I was in was big and so the washroom was a bit of a walk) but I still bothered to treat it with cold water for a while. I think I got burned another time and didn't treat it long enough or properly (I guess I didn't run it under cold water because I couldn't get to a tap?), I got to feel like a part of my hand was on fire or burning where I was burnt. I don't know if it was some of the cells had been killed and that they were all in a rush to rebuild. 😛 It wasn't fun to feel that along with how it hurt to get burned. 🙁

But as for asking here instead of asking hopefully a better source (or even one that would respond faster, but forums can move at a relaxed speed), I'm reminded of one of those sites that quote IRC chats and this one guy said something about a fire and how he's just continuing to chat on IRC and not do anything about it (it's not slash.org like I was leaning toward because I checked... 🙁 ), and even this other guy says something like he didn't want to play along with the person to get quoted on the site. xD

Oh yeah, I also hear that 2 years ago when I was in a First-Aid CPR class (my first-aid is actually out of date, I believe, since they have to re-do the course every year to be certified) that my instructor had talked with someone that taught CPR in the USA and people would not bother with CPR courses because it left the person who performed CPR open to be sued or maybe as bad as the people that performed CPR were being sued. I would guess it's the people that although they followed procedure since something bad happened, and then the good intentions (if you don't automatically assume that they "lead to Hell" 😉 ) weren't good enough. I wonder if a lawyer/shark would ever try to sue people that gave advice over the internet? 😐 Maybe the relationship advice columnist would get sued first though?

I took a CPR class once long ago ... but I thought there was the Good Samaratin(sp?) Law to cover them. I was told that its not uncommon for ribs to break performing CPR, as well as other concerns. But that's fixable, and not the issue when someone is dying!

There is a Good Samaritan Law to prevent people who are trying to help from being sued, but...if they want to sue, they can still drag you into court even though the judge may throw it out right away. Going to court, even if you're 100% sure things will go your way, is not fun.

Considering this incident occured May 30th, I believe giving you an advice now would be a tad too late, but if this reoccurs, do as people have said and do not submerge in extremely cold water, doing so causes weird blistering bubbles which would irritate you more seeing that there is a huge blister and it's hard not to poke at it. Putting neosporin and wrapping it in gauze would help. Make sure you don't scratch at it when it's healing and refrain from opening that gauze at any time. Although, you must clean it everyday to avoid infections. 😁 As I child I spilled a whole kettle filled with hot boiling water all over my arms, good thing my mother is a nurse.
