Blue Heaven

Jiraishin

The first is more or less focused on the antagonists, and they're all pretty scary and fucked-up. Definately worth a read.

Jiraishin is about a cop who pretty much lacks emotions, and wouldn't think twice about putting a bullet through a hostage's shoulder if it meant taking down the assailant. Also definately worth a read.

Tora Dora - Guy looks like a deliquent so people are always afraid of him, his mom is a hostess who has a drinking problem, and he has to help his mean, short next-door neighbor get together with his best friend while trying to get his own crush to notice him. Needless to say he's pretty negative about the world.

@Criminal Intent

ToraDora is more of a Romance and comedy.

Yeah, but that's what they're looking for. A comedy where the main is sort of pessimistic and cinical, like Zetsubo Sensei.

yeah, that would be pretty accurate, I seem to like the characters as dark or scary but kind of in a comedy setting (i.e. Sunako and Zetsubo), though I also like them in a more scary setting (i.e. Light off death Note).

still, any more recommendations would be great if anyone has any more... you can never get enough! lol. 😀

I'm surprised no one mentioned Kimi ni Todoke yet (or if they did I missed it). Definitely try that one—it's adorable! It's another take on the "Ring-girl" premise (along with PGE) : the main character has a sweet, optimistic personality but her outward appearance is dark and similar to PGE's Sunako. And it's quite funny, I think 😀

Code Geass- Lelouch can be extremely disturbing at times.

I second Belmonde le Visiteur. The main character isn't goth and is more humorous than emo; mostly his profession.

And then Ragnarok's Leroy.
