...that gets cold enough 1-2 times per year to kill the cockroaches (because I refuse to live any place where you just have to put up with the things because they're everywhere) but other than that doesn't have much winter!
Anyone know of such a place?!?
While I know that there are many places with much worse winters than we have here, a full week of below-freezing temperatures is really more than I want to deal with. 😔

North Carolina.
I haven't seen roaches anywhere around here, and i have been in some pretty...bad places.
Winter is nice, but we don't get snow, and since i am a northerner, i hate that, but if you're looking to escape it, then this is good.
South Carolina is good too.
But the job market here is screwed, so it might not be a good option, all in all.

not chicago. maybe try california or new mexico or somewhere down there where its nice and hot.
Common sense just isn't that common
Rio de Janeiro (Copacabana FTW), maybe its a teensy bit distant, but if you manage to adequate to its lifestile, its all win!

That's known as a "coin".

The job market is pretty screwed here too (well, just about everywhere right now), but I'll take a look at the Carolinas. My sister lives in New Jersey, so at least I'd be closer to her. 😃 I really wouldn't mind a few snowy days here & there, but I hate dealing with snow on a long-term basis.

Well, it does snow here, just not all that heavily, north north carolina gets more than down here by SC, the mountains are good too.
Right by the beach, as well.
Overall its a good place to live, if you can stand the heat during the summer.

I have roaches. Some huge ones that drive cars. 😐
But if you decide on NC, live in Charlotte or in the Charlotte Metropolitan area like Gastonia or Concord, everywhere else except maybe the Raleigh/Durham area is completely not worth it.

Raid is actually a really really effective brand against kill those pests. Some of their products feed the roaches poison that renders them impotent. You don't need to move, you just need some roach killing poison.

Tofu wants to move not only because of roaches but she also wants to get away from the snowy winters

There are roaches in alaska, yukon, moscow, etc too... If a human can survive it, a roach can easily survive it.

I would not come to georgia, we have the big flying roaches and palmetto bugs. It is nasty. And the avg. low temperature for any day of the year never goes below freezing, but the summers are quite hot.
