The funny thing is, what would count as a "short manga"? Would stuff that's maybe 10 volumes or under be about right to be counted as "short manga"?

4 volumes and under should be considered "short" I think. 10 is fairly long.

Ueda's next 2 volume work Q-ko-chan (manga-updates uses a funny spelling), I think is just as good if not better 🙂

(although I don't think it is available in a scanned/scanlated form)

Ai Ren, Akkan Baby, Parallel, FLCL, Deep Love, Koi Kaze (warning: incest)... uhh can't think of anything else atm.

I'd have to say Kokoro Kikai by Sumomo Yumeka if it counts. It's a short shounen-ai manga and it's subtle, sweet and makes you feel very light. Actually, I love all of Sumomo Yumeka's works. All of them are very short but all of them are great reads.

But I do agree that FLCL is an awesome manga. The anime was insanely fun too! Hurrah for Gainax!

azumanga daioh is only 4 volumes total, so I think it counts as a short manga 🙂
I find Lilim Kiss a nice read as well, and it's a shortmanga ofcourse. (2 volumes total)
Another short read is Hiatari Ryoukou. Not bad at all 😛 (3volumes)
Zan is enjoyable as well, if your in for some 2-volume weird samurai fighting!

I'm sticking it up for short manga, nothing more than two volumes. More than a oneshot, but not a series. Yeah, go short stuff!
