Ok, that's my question. And I'm truly sorry if someone already asked it, I didn't find anything similar with the search.

I wanna know why many people give a 10 so easily. Until now I give it only to 3 manga (complete) and there are many manga in this site which has "10" as the most frequent vote... for some I can find a motive even if I don't particularly like it, but for others I really don't understand how many people could consider them a masterpiece (I'll give an example in the next paragraph). And I also think that I'm a really generous person, I often give 9 to good manga which can make smile/laugh/think a little and 7 to manga that are nothing special, just good to kill some time.

I don't wanna to start a controversy now, but there are manga which has 10 as the most frequent vote, like Saboten no Himitsu, Power!! (10 volumes of zero character development, a tribute to Takahashi maybe?), H3 School, Bleach (a girl has been kidnapped? Again?!?), Suzuka ("why Asahina-san is angry with me?" I really don't know Yamato, maybe 'cause she's a bi**h?), Prince of Tennis (Has it born before the manga or all the yaoi fanfics?). [I hope nobody will be offended by my sarcasm]
Do they really worth a 10? Some could be cute, some have good characters, some start good, but they are really masterpiece? They are really something that you never saw in other manga before? (I don't want to criticize the various cliché, I know how a shounen/shoujo is structured, but I think they should have a minimum of originality/variety).

I often give a 7 (or 6) to manga which don't really impress me particularly but they are not so bad, but I noticed that only few manga have 7 (or 6) as the most frequent vote, they have often many 10-9 and 1 (anti-popular reaction? But I don't want to start another pool about why people give 1 so easily, so let this slip for now).

Thanks in advance to anyone will vote/answer and sorry to be so long. I also hope I didn't sound rude in criticizing manga that you like, I did it only to give examples and in order to be not abstract.

I give a 10 most of the time or I just don't bother scoring at all. I am just too lazy to weigh the pros/cons of a series and give a proper score, if I enjoyed it at all I will give it a 10...

The main reason is most people wanna increase the average score of manga they like.
Also... many people who're involved with scanlator groups are members here. They just wanna increase the average of mangas they're working on. (Ever notice all the 10 ratings for many of the newly released hentai or yaoi titles).... they aren't breaking any rules, so we can't take anything away from them.... The internet's a free country, after all.

I hardly give a 10..... except for Yotsubato! (I wanna kill those 27 idiots who gave it a 1) and some Asano Inio mangas.... and probably 2 or 3 other titles..... Most of the time I give a 6-8 for stuff I like. (I gave Suzuka a 1, BTW).

I have to admit I don't give ratings all that often... only for stuff I really like or stuff I really hate.

If I give a 10, it's usually because I think others should read the series. Scores, to me, aren't a judgement of how well made the manga is, but whether or not I'd suggest it to someone else to read. That said, I don't really rate things often, because I'm lazy.

I give tens pretty infrequently. In fact, give high ratings pretty infrequently in general- I typically try to average my ratings at 5 and score accordingly, I find it gives more room for opinions. I actually score everything out of 100 in my head (50 being completely average quality, 100 being absolutely perfect) and round to the nearest half after scaling it down.

That said, giving 10s is subjective. It's entirely possible that people are amazed by manga you think is far from a masterpiece, it could give off an entirely different impression to them, or relate to a real life experience, or any number of other plausible explanations. I'm sure there are people out there that hate Monster or Nijigahara Holograph, but to me those are masterpieces. That doesn't mean my taste is inherently superior or inferior, it's just a difference of opinion, just like your standards that determine what deserves a 10.

After replying, I feel like I've said this before, is this a repeat thread?

I only give 10 to series I really liked. Since it's subjective, why not?. I usually rate the ones I liked from 9 to 9.9 now. I don't rate manga I don't like, so I don't give low ratings either.

I only give a ten when something is just perfect, or to give it a boost if I like it and think that its average score doesn't represent its quality.

Yes, I probably forget about them. And I obviously don't think they are doing bad things or breaking rules, they just simply think different than me (I give objective votes also to series i scanned/subbed). I just wanted to know with a poll if they were the majority or how many think in that way.

P.S.: do you know what your signature means? XD Are you Italian perhaps?

I perfectly know that. But my question wasn't what really worth 10 and what not, but why many people give 10 so easily. And also people are free to post here their reason why the manga I cited are masterpiece, I always love to hear contrasting opinions.

I already apologized if there were another thread like this, I didn't find it from the titles and I can't search all the threads in the forum.

Simple: If I rate something at all, it's either going to be a really good rating or a really bad rating. Why would I waste my time rating mediocre manga?

It's also subjective.

It's possible that it was on another forum, this might not be a repeat shrug. I was only asking, not accusing you or anything.

Anyway, you sort of missed the part where I talked about why so many people give 10s- like tastes, standards are also subjective. As a result, many people have much lower standards than others (this seems to be the overwhelming majority). Of course, I'm ignoring the people who have alternative motivations, but the point is just that everything is subjective, and people seem to typically be less critical when it comes to things they like.

Sorry, I misunderstood then.

My point was instead that. You said that everything is subjective and I of course agree. But I wanna know if they give 10 'cause everything is subjective or for others motive. There are people who just want to raise the average of a manga or just vote for what they like and not what they dislike. You also said this and I'm just curios about the percentage, that's all.
My critiques against some manga was only to explain why I come up with this question (because I'm a person who try to classify everything and so I use also middle votes).

I don't give out many 10 s so far I only gave out six 10 s

they way I rate is its

8 or 9 if I like it and enjoyed reading it all the way through
6 or 7 if I enjoyed it but didn't agree with everything it had
4 or 5 for I just read because I wanted to find out how it ended
2 or 3 if i read couple of chapters and decide thats it I don't want to read anymore and just skip to the end if it has an end I can get my hands on
1 if I read 1 chapter and delete and defrag my drive

I only give 10 s to manga that I enjoy reading over and over and is the best of its kind among what I read

the 10 s I gave so far are

action battle angel alita it has nonstop action good art and a little bit of plot to go with all that
hellsing best vampire manga imo and has good art
demon king good amount of action good art and each arc is done fast with very little unnecessary stretching and good comedy to go with all that.

comedy/romance katsu! very good story just the right amount of sports, comedy, and romance excellent start and ending

comedy yotsubato! angel densetsu just about every chapter in these two manga made me laugh can't ask for more than that in a comedy.
