So, yeah.
I'm looking for a manga of pure love.
So that means no ecchi, 'players', harem, random smut, fantasy, sci-fi, and so on.
I really want to find something where the leads grew up together/got a real chance to know each other instead of "OhMahGod. I'minLOVE."
Any one, any one ?
P.S. I like angst. ; )

I second that. Also try Tonari no Megane-kun. ^_^

I second Tonari no Megane-kun!! That was what I thought of when I read your request. It's not really angsty though... just sweet and lovely and absolutely perfect (in my opinion). Kimi ni Todoke is also pretty pure and believable (the characters fall in love for believable reasons, not just because they're the main characters and therefore must fall in love).

I wonder if Nanba Atsuko's work would apply? She writes pretty believable situations and characters... but I don't know if I'd apply the term "pure love" to them. Maybe. You might like Tears of a Lamb too (or I might just be biased by my eternal love for Hidaka Banri and my need to share my love of her work with everyone in the world, again.... But!) I think the build up to "love" between the characters is pretty well-paced and believable. And it's somewhat more serious than her other works (I'll admit it, I'm not really a fan of angst. I'd rather laugh 😀 )

Man. This request made me realize how unbelievable most pairings in shoujo manga are. How sad.... but I like reading them anyway.

Thank you ^^
Will definitely check the works of those authors.
Hm, I like reading them too ! (Atrociously handsome + Normal stupid girl is a must sometimes )
But, I felt a change in pace , you know ? : D
Every shoujo manga I read in the last few months kinda started to blend together to the point I sorta forgot which series was which LOL.

I second Kimi ni Todoke.

In addition, I recommend Saikano. It's a more mature work, but I think it still applies to your "pure love" motif (plus it's angsty). Hoshi no Koe is also worth a read, as is anything by Sahara Mizu. Clover is nice too, albeit a bit irresolute. Personally, I liked The Demon Ororon a lot, but the art doesn't appeal to everyone. However, if you want angst...

I've also heard good things about Blood Alone, though I haven't read it myself.

Hope this helps! 🙂

Second to Saikano.

Also, Yume de Aetara and Shinobi Life

Kare Kano is really hectic and stuff, but it's about pure love. It's very light and refreshing.
In Koukou Debut the couple gets to know each other very well.
Maybe you've already read them, because they're really popular, but it fits your description.
