Description
Energetic and strong-willed, Beni doesn't care if she lives or dies as long as her death will result in embarassing her arrogant father! But one day, she suddenly encounters Kagetora, a ninja who's fallen from the sky and swears complete loyalty to her -- as her bodyguard. Kagetora has time traveled from a long, long time ago, and has devoted his life to protecting Princess Beni. Little does Kagetora know that this Beni is not the real princess... Can true love and honor survive after a centuries-long time warp -- in a crazy modern world?

If You Want a Strong Story Heavy on the Time Skip

Amazing art, intense story, complex characters, but damn it, I hate it when a handful of new or reenvisioned characters are introduced in the middle of the story.

I don't usually like time skip stories either, unless it is a minimal part of the story, so don't let my review set you off--as long as you don't mind extreme time skip plot, I recommend what I did read! I enjoyed the first five volumes immensely!

Kamakiri and Bokutachi Otokonoko by this same author are two of the most memorable, outstandingly well done manga I have ever read.

Beautiful!

It takes a little while for the manga to get really really good and interesting, but it's beautiful and funny from the very beginning and that's why I kept reading at first. It's very much a shoujo romance with a lot of very shoujo sparkle-squeal-fade-into-flower moments (which you may or may not love- I love it but laugh at it too) but there's actually a lot of good action and suspense too to keep the plot moving. Some amazing twists here and there. I love time travel stories! Especially when things get dangerous hehehe. And I love the characters, how they all have multiple sides and reasons for their personality and first impressions could be misleading. Funny enough, the most interesting characters are not the main ones, but we love the main pair anyway. My absolute favorite character is Renkaku, who you don't meet till the middlish of the story. Then Hitaki.

Overall a fun story, perfect for someone who wants a good shoujo that doesn't drag on with cliche ideas and plots. Romance, action, and a good amount of dramatic moments. smile

Not a great manga, but an okay one. Beni is kind of an annoying character - but she IS a shoujo heroine, so you kind of have to accept that going in. The plot also dragged in the middle, and there were several periods where I just couldn't bring myself to read the new releases because previous chapters were so unmemorable that I didn't have any idea of what was going on, and didn't want to re-read to remind myself BECAUSE the chapters were so boring.

But, that said, it WAS a good manga when it wasn't dragging. The time travel was interesting, and there were one or two twists that I didn't see coming, which was fun. Definitely not one my favorite manga list, but a nice enough read that I will probably come back and read it all in one go at some point in the future. Maybe it won't seem so uninteresting in the middle if I can get through all of the "blah" chapters quickly, without having to go back to figure out what was happening.

I LOVE Shinobi Life! I thought the story was really good the first time i started reading it.. I also loved the art and the characters. I loved seeing how they evolved and grew. So glad though that the story has ended.. was wondering when it would. But I still think that the drama was too much in the middle.

The plot will only be revealed laters in the series. Its a good plot honestly. But too much of something is really exhausting. I wish the series had a little less of the twistSsss. Yes with an S cause it has a lot of mayhem going on. and focus on atleast one or two problems. I mean, so it wouldnt be so much headache, atleast solve one problem before giving the series another problemSsss. Im still not finished reading it so i wont rate it yet.

I never seriously ever ! thought in a million years that I would come to like this manga.I always saw this but skipped it because the summery made the story seem..pretty booring. After rubbish manga after rubbish manga, I came back to this and I really didn't want to read this but I saw the 'greeat' reviews this manga received tbh that still wasn't enough and I was on verge of reading another manga, then on a whim I said fuuck it, let me see this manga for once and for all ! So I read the first few chapters and was shocked to see how nice the flow was because not for one instance did I have to force myself to read this manga, literally nothing went wrong... So from then on I was pretty much hooked. The funny thing is this has happened with all the best manga(shit summery, awesome story).

After reading the first 4volumes, I was in lover, I seriously was ...Then it came volume 5 and woow...it was amazing, the build up that goes on is consistent throughout, its taken me a day and half to read this and tbh I'm angry because once again, I end up loving a manga, but it takes so long for the chapters to be released that I end up losing interest and I'm sorry but I'm not gonna read manga for years...Just no ! Sigh**

I can tell where this manga is going and I just know its going to be a great happy ending! Errgggh I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M FINISHED !!! TUT*
Seriously if your having douts pllllleeeeasee for the love of god read it ! I can honestly say that this statement I am about to make is a Fact ! ...ALL SEEMINGLY INTERESTING MANGAS ARE CRAP, THE MANGAS THAT DON'T SEEM INTERESTING ARE THE FREEEEAKIN BEST !.

I.E: The one, Crimson Hero,KouKou debut and this manga which has now been added, this is a huge honour since these manga are the best I've read in all my ...experience of manga..Anyway I give this manga a 9.5 simply because it can't compare to The One

EDIT: I was right smile read it .

Slow start, but really picks up

First, the most important thing you need to understand is that Beni has no super powers. The romance is obvious from the beginning to everyone except our two main protagonists >.< While the beginning few chapters are a little cliched, once time travel is introduced, the story really picks up. The part I loved the most was when the true chronology of Kagetora's life and his meetings with certain characters are revealed *cough cough*. His history with Hitaki clears up a lot of previous questions from the beginning of the story, which was very clever of the mangaka. I definitely had a big aha! moment and applauded the wonderful uses of foreshadow before said moment of epiphany. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes reading something with a little adventure and a fairly complex plot history. And let's not forget our hot male lead wink

The same old stuff, maybe worse

This is the kind of manga you'll like if you want romantic angst and repetitive plot development. In other words, it's like any other shoujo romance manga with "forbidden love", except with ninjas and time travel and convenient plot devices and a relapse of all the romantic progress and character growth that is ever made. And isn't it *so* convenient that

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the real princess lost her memory and gave up being a princess, therefore making it easy for Kagetora to abandon her?

Isn't it convenient that Beni's potential "supernatural powers" suddenly appear a few volumes in, without a hint of them beforehand?

Everyone in this manga is full of angst: the villains, the heroes, basically anyone of importance. And the heroine is weak. She seems strong, but everything she does causes more trouble and Kagetora still ends up coming to save her. He has to extricate her from the mess she made trying to "save" him. She's always crying or about to cry about something. Fortunately, she's not colossally stupid, but I can't like her either. And Kagetora always feels guilty about something. I guess he's cute for a manga guy, but he's completely intolerable the way he wavers back and forth about how to treat Beni.

In other words, this series could've been nicely wrapped up in about 3-4 volumes. There's only four important plot points: the past princess, the fiance, the antagonist, the nasty father. Instead of a nice, tight, well-planned storyline, there's angst on top of angst. If you like that, then you'll LOVE this. If you like a good plot and developing/developed characters, you are going to be driven crazy by this.
