I sometimes wear glasses ... although I should probably always wear them ....

From a time I can remember, to... I don't know, 13? 14? No glasses. But I probably should have had some glasses in 4th-7th grade since I always remember either squinting or otherwise attempting to alter my vision to see the notes on the board. Although, now that I think of it, perhaps I needed them even sooner than that, as naturally, I never thought something as basic as my own vision hindering my grades as a 1st-3rd grader.

Long story short, I started wearing glasses from my freshman year in highschool till last year. Sometime in December of last year, I got LASIK eye surgery to correct my vision, so currently, I see 20/20 with my naked eye.

For anyone wondering, yes, the transition from wearing glasses all of your adult life, to suddenly not, is... bizarre, to say the least. I swear that for the first few weeks I instinctively reached for my glasses upon waking up, and to this day I occasionally feel the need to put... something over my eyes in order to "see better", even though my vision naked eyed is perfect.

It's bizarre, but it was worth it. I think I may need an adjustment, though, since I feel my vision isn't satisfactory when I'm driving... but maybe that's just in the morning...?

I dunno. Whatever the case, I know I have a real bad habit of undershooting the amount of correction I need for my eyes because, like I said, as a kid I was used to seeing poorly, so I thought that was normal. Which basically means that I'm good at dealing with poor vision, so when the examiner asks me if I can read a line, I say "Yes", even when that line isn't perfectly clear.

Contact are costly not suitable for day to day use .They are not that comfortable.

After wearing soft contacts for ~25 years, about 18 months ago I had LASIK and it is WONDERFUL!!! to be able to see well without contacts or glasses. 😀

My vision is 20/20 in my right eye and 20/25 in my left, but since they were both 20/425 before, this is FINE by me. (You can legally drive with vision up to 20/40, btw.) I do so LOVE not having to mess with contacts (which I wore 16+ hours/day with no problems) or wear glasses.

My older boys still wear glasses & it doesn't seem to bother them at all, but when they're old enough I will find a way to pay for them to have LASIK if they're good candidates & want to have it done.

Being able to see w/out contacts or glasses makes an amazing difference to me. 😃

I use glasses, for distance. When I'm on the computer, reading or doing nothing I don't actually use them. I use only to read the blackboard in the University, to see the bus number and to read subtitles on movies. Because of that, I'm not familiar at all with my glasses even after one year... I keep forgetting them at home sometimes...

Is it bad? Probably. I think my eyes are a little worse from what they were before... I'm more dependent right now (sometimes it feels strange to go outside without them, because I can't see other people's faces from a distance while walking).

Do I like to wear glasses? I actually do. I also don't use them so often because it hurts a little, it gives me headache. Not because of the lenses, but the frame, maybe...? I will probably change it next year to see if I can deal with it better.

On a side note, for me it doesn't feel weird to see without glasses or with them... For 18 years of my life I didn't wear glasses and my vision is quite good if you don't mind the details. But maybe I will miss the days where I could see everything without glasses, especially the TV in the morning, when I wake up and I can't read anything, I get all "aww man, I used to see it so clearly".

Advice : if you have a feeling that your glasses might be too heavy or uncomfortable and therefore you don't use them.. change the frame as fast as you could. I have been wearing the same, very heavy frame for about 4 years (because the "normal" frames lasted about a year and then fell apart), and I didn't wear them all of the time because of that.. after changing to the thin, metal ones I started wearing them even at home.. but in the meantime my sight, from not wearing glasses dropped from -1.5 (about 20/60 ? we don't use this notation) to -3.5 (20/200).

I don't wear contact lenses all of the time, because not only I am nearsighted, but also have astigmatism, so the lenses for "everyday" use would cost .. a lot. But if it's a short period of time (snowboarding, concerts, or training ), and I don't have to see perfectly, I prefer them over glasses. I can't imagine having to stick glasses under my helmet, and trying to hit someone with a short sword or a knife without seeing them would be troublesome.

When I had previous frames I couldn't stick them under headphones, so I got pretty used to navigating though city without seeing too much. Felt weird, when the realization hit me, that while crossing a street I don't watch for cars.. but hear them (my hearing being much better than average)

chrum, thanks for the advice. That's actually what I'm planing to do, change the frame to use it more and to use it at home too. I don't like using it on the computer because it is so close, just like reading a book, but for watching TV I guess I have to start wearing to not force my eyes even more (also, I can't read simple things that are too little and a bit far). So yes, that's my plan, I hope mine didn't drop that much (but I guess it is a little worst from what it was before). 🙁

I've worn glasses for about the last 7-8 yrs. Though, I am not opposed to Contacts. Glasses are just a lot more convenient.

Glasses, unfortunately.
I went contacts for about a year, but my eyes are super sensitive and never quite got used to them. Worst feeling ever- now I hate contacts.

You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.

I wear fake glasses whenever I go out.. My vision‘s ok..

Hmmm, seems like many do not like wearing glasses, in my case, it suits me fine, you guys should just really get one that will make you look sharp...

I have two pairs of glasses: one for the computer, and another for everything else. My vision has finally stabilized at around -6.00 for both eyes. I am very nearsighted, and can read things at 10in (or around 25cm) clearly. I also have mild astigmatism in my left eye from an injury. I wear contacts occasionally, but try not to because I don't want to scratch my corneas too much. I'm saving up for lasek surgery in the future.

I wear glasses but that's only for one reason. MANGA/ANIME. I used to have good eyesight and I loved going to the library for mangas but the problem was that most of the series that I was reading were missing or had I strange miss-colored piece of snot smacked right in the middle. So one day my brother introduce me to reading manga online...I WENT CRAZY AND READ FOR HOURS AND HOURS STRAIGHT EVERYDAY.....and there went my eyes... 😢

I've been wearing glasses since I'm like.. in grade 2(i was 6)? it should have been 8 years. So most of my life are spent with glasses. Since I wear them from a young age, I never take them off, except for sleeping and swimming (very rarely), I even wear them to bath.

I am nearsighted and have astigmatic eyes, it's quite a problem as I am a student. But even tough there comes a day where I don't need to wear them anymore (lasik or natural), I think I'll still wear them, it's like a part of me now. My friends don't like me wearing glasses tough, they force take my glasses and hide them lol
