I heard from my friend that contact is dangerous. She say that someone got his contact slide to the upper eye..That really scared me..
I've been wearing contacts for over 22 years now, & while I have had them slide under my upper eyelid, they really can't go very far - your eye is held in by a whole lot of muscles, ligaments, etc. that block the lens from getting "lost" in your eye.
I've also had lenses rip while I'm wearing them, and removing several pieces of contact lens from my eye is significantly more difficult than removing a whole lens! 🤣
My eyes were 20/250 when I first got contacts; they've been stable at 20/425 for 10+ years now. I have glasses, but they're heavy & I rarely wear them since I can wear my contacts for 16+ hours/day without any problems. 😀 After this many years, putting them in takes maybe 30 seconds (and doesn't require a mirror), so it's not much more trouble than putting on glasses.
Both my kids have worn glasses for several years now, but it's not a very strong prescription.

Glasses, poking myself in the eye is scary... knowing me something bad would happen XD.
I'm the same. I've been wearing glasses since kindergarten. Yet for some reason, teachers love assigning me back seats. They don't realize that I'm blind even with glasses on since I get used to new glasses really quickly.
I'm scared of putting on contacts too. I feel sorry for my eye doctor. He had to give up on dilating me eyes one year. When I got new glasses, he said, "Okay, we REALLY need to dilate your eyes." I hate anything coming close to my eyes. I can't even look up to the sky when it's raining even though my glasses would protect my eyes. Besides, I'm quite clusmy, so I'll wait on those contacts.
Dilating the eyes? is that the procedure where they shine that light in your eyes? But yeah, if you want to get prepared to put on contacts, lightly poke yourself in the eye at regular intervals. And don't be a wimp.

Umm, I am surprised that so many people wear glasses or contacts, only a handful have good vision...
This is just like the anime/computer geek stereotype.
Or maybe people who don't wear glasses just haven't clicked on this thread?
Bad eyesight doesn't kill, thus it gets transferred to the next generations.
I don't wear glasses.
My eyesight is blurry currently, but
the reason might be the three
eye infections I had during the last month.

I am very near sighted so I wear glasses. I look better with glasses on (its not exactly saying much ^^;; ) so even if I got my eyesight corrected with surgery or somthing, I would wear fake glasses.

Oddly, despite how much I'm on the computer, playing video games, or reading in dim light (which I don't suggest anyway), I don't need glasses.

I've been wearing contacts since I was in middle school. Part of the reason is because my eyesight is so terrible that glasses are no longer a structurally sound choice for me.
how bad is your eyesight??

Contacts aren't good for everyone, it depends on the individual & the cause of the bad eyesight. If you're interested, you could ask your eye doctor why he says not to wear them.
No, if you get hit in the eye you won't automatically become blind. There's probably a higher chance of injury if you wear hard contacts. I've only worn soft contacts, and I've had one knocked out of my eye a couple times with no damage.

You may have issues based upon the shape of your eye.
And since most contacts are soft, disposable lenses, generally no complications are caused by an impact to the eye.

Glasses for me. I don't like the concept of putting something onto my eye.

I don't have bad eyesight, but if I spend all day at the computer (or a few days), sometimes I'll start getting headaches, so I do have glasses for when I'm going to be sitting here a while. I've never tried contacts since I only need my glasses for specific things and it seems like a hassle to keep taking them out when I don't need them. My glasses I just put on top of my head.
