Seconding everyone who's said Miaka from Fushigi Yugi... and the one from Ceres as well, I only got a few chapters in and gave up, it just seemed ridiculous. Can't remember the name of the main girl from Genbu Kaiden but I like her better... but still resent certain things she has done which are just really clichéd:

like when she goes back to her own world and agrees to marry some random guy that shows up, but ends up ditching him eventually and going back for that guy in the book irrespective of other people's feelings -supposed to make us sympathise with her because she loves the guy from the book so much she can't be apart from him? never mind that she totally tramples all over the guy she agreed to marry? It's called thinking, people! THINK before you agree to marry people!

Oh and Hatsumi of Hot Gimmick has been said a few times before, I totally agree. These girls who are complete doormats for guys but fall in love with them anyway, arghh!

Some people said Tohru... at the start she definitely grated (felt like Natsuki Takaya was trying really hard to make us like her by making her so "optimistic" which really bugs me) but later on I kinda respected her for trying to make things change instead of being one of those shoujo heroines who just sits back and has everything pass her by, and I think she became more 3D over the series... will also defend Hachi from Nana, I don't know what it is but I don't find her that annoying.

Has anyone said Usagi from Tail of the Moon yet? GRARRGHHH!! Ditz, idiot, crybaby, relies on Hanzo too much, and is really really ridiculous when it comes to her monologues concerning kissing/sex. Spoilers for Volume 12 onwards:

the fact she also does this thing when Hanzo disappears and now is relying on the newly-returned Yuki, I hear that they get engaged so it's just like in Genbu Kaiden, but I bet that Hanzo will be alive and Usagi will ditch Yuki (who I like better ;_;) the moment Hanzo appears.

As for Momo from Peach Girl and that girl from Kirarin Revolution, totally agree. For some reason I really wanted to like Kirarin Revolution but she really ruined the whole thing. (Actually the whole idea was pretty bad from the start... not to mention the art! But I suppose it is targeted at a much younger audience than me... haha.)

I usually don't like Watase Yuu's manga, though I did when I was like, ten. Her manga are way too smut for me. HOW many times did Aya and Miaka face potential rape? And forgive the attackers? Her heroines are all tools.

But back on topic, I don't like innocent, bubbly, and way too selfless girls. The generic shoujo heroine. Mahnwa usually have more tough-ass heroines. Anyone unique and weird is good with me.

She gets save far too often. I like Takiko of Genbou kaiden much more, she at least makes an effort to defend herself and has some legitimate tragedy in her life rather than just whining about school. I had less problems with Aya and Takiko I actually like so Watase Yuu is getting better 😛 .

I'm sure she's been mentioned before, but Tohru from Fruits Basket all the way. She's so ridiculously naive and feminine-acting, and I think the way she idolizes her mother's photograph isn't endearing, it's insane. Any character that has the "power of love" tends to be incredibly grating because they're invariably giant Mary Sues.

Although I have to admit she was a little less dislikeable in the manga. At least it was hinted at that she really was insane.

The ones that depend too much on their boyfriends and cry in every other scene.

Miku from Otona Pink - hisses I hate her with a passion! That is all.

Tessa from Full Metal Panic! - FMP isn't a Shoujo, but it comes close! She's an annoying little jealous.......

Kyoko from Skip Beat! - I used to like her, but as the series progressed, she became dense and dumb.

Not all of Yuu Watase's lead characters are bad. Takiko from FY: Genbu is a strong girl. And oh, she doesn't fall in love with Rimudo first thing. Probably why she gets/almost gets devoured by Genbu at the end. ^.^' As for the rest of Yuu Watase's female leads, I could care less. Miaka and Yui are really annoying.

Did anyone say Kagome from Inu-Yasha? God she's annoying as all hell. She's like nails running down a blackboard annoying! Same for Ayame!

Ino from Naruto is just ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! And Hinata needs to get a life...cough- stalker girl Sakura (I used to like her) but now I hate her cus it seems she has the hots for Naruto, which is stupid. If she just kept faithful to Sasuke, it would have been much better.

I hate characters by Shimaki Ako, the main characters (not supporting) by Watase Yuu, girls in smut manga, stupid girls like those by Aihara Miki (Seiten taisei, hot gimmick), the girls who fall in love quick, without a reason, or the reason is: He kissed me! eg.Marmalade boy. The characters in MARS and kare first love. Those manga are sooo similar. And much more.

Most shojo leads are "the worse" because most of them are cut from the same cloth.
Let's see, I try to avoid shojo's that have the annoying, dumb, crybaby leads, but let's see others that annoy me even if they are not quite as dumb, crybaby leads:

Sakuya from Hoshi wa Utau because she falls in the "dumb" category, but mostly because she fell for a guy that only told her some nice words once, yet the one that was always trying to make her happy she ignored. When he confessed, she cried because she hoped she could return his feelings, so that annoyed me.

Usagi from Sailor Moon, she's the epitome of crybaby shojo lead

Hatsumi from Hot Gimmick, she was the "strong" heroine that ends up being the weakest.

And I'm sure there are others, but The ones I can think of are from shonens.

I hate Yuuki from Vampire Knight - She has not gotten stronger throughout the series. Compared to her from the start to who she currently is she has gotten weaker. And finally she is starting to feel fopr ZERO. ARRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I used to lveher now she becoming like Zero: Sad and depressed.

But I absolutely hates that girl from Love Monster!!! AAAHHHHH!!!!!! So freakin dumb and defenless!!!!
