hmmm i'd certainly like a choice in any matter, but the idea of a destiny chosen for me is rather tempting XD i'll go with destiny!

the control we have over our own lives is very small and narrow... considering that the choices of the other 6 billion people of the world all make thier own choices and that effects each of the options that are avalibe to use as our choices effect the options avalibale to the people around us...

so the rabble limit us... with the damn herd mind...

you know when a crowd gets to gather they all tend to foam at the mouth while they scream about something or other... i guess you could call that a force of nature...

so would that be considered destiny... the collective stupidity of any collection of indivuals... in a large group...

Eh, I think both can be fun so why not try to pit them together so to see if they either workout or the defy each other 😀

both.
you make your decisions yourself,
but those make your destiny.
can't explain wel, but I think it's something like that.

i don't believe in destiny/fate

everything that happens to you happened either because of your decision or other people's decisions

sometimes when a kind and ordinary person suddenly encounters a wave of misfortune, others look upon it and call it his fate, solely on the basis that he did not do anything to deserve those misfortunes...however, i believe they're looking over the fact that the future is a compilation of decisions made by everybody in the world - not just any lone person...one's life can easily be affected by other people's choices and decisions, not just one's own...

what's called "fate" is merely the effect of the decisions of everybody around you and your own, on you

if friar lawrence hadn't decided to give romeo the poison, he would've never committed suicide along with juliet - it's as simple as that

I believe in a sort of weird mixture that's kind of hard to understand. Basically, God gives us free will, but since He knows what we're going to do with it, even though it's not necessarily pre-ordained...it's not like the future is this huge, empty space where anything can happen, either.

I believe alot is pre-destined, not because something out there decides for you but because your experience things. . . Say that you are in event 9 in your life, then all the events up to this will determine what kind of choice you will make, how you act in this particular situation, of course this means that everything can't be pre-destined, there are some natural events that we have no control over which may affect us.

I hope I'm not being confusing here 🤢

From my best experience, it depends on the choices I make and the choices of people around me. And chance, sometimes, but not to the point of 'destiny'.

Even if I can't choose what happens, I'd like to think that I can feel however I want about it. I don't like the idea of having my reactions pre-planned.

a mix of both for me even though I most strongly believe in destiny, one can argue that religion dictates one's fate, that it's already been predetermined by the Gods, that no matter how empowering you may feel in making an important decision or choice, it's really nothing special as you are simply making left and right turns on your journey down that long winding path of life. The path has already been set and paved down for you, and God being that all knowing; all seeing entity that he is has already foreseen your choices...Foreseen your future. At the end of the road, you will still eventually, irrevocably have walked down a pre-layed out path and will have come to a predicted end...

Destiny, I think all the choices you make were planned and direct you.

both.
whatever happens was fated to happen- you can choose whatever you want, but the result turns into your destiny.

Quote from Saexel

I think both actually. Destiny, because we don't choose what kind of setting we are born into nor the environment we grow up in which affects our own future greatly. Choice also affects it because you choose what the major things in your life. (Ex. Jobs, marriage, etc.)

I second this.

I say both.

You have your free will of choice, but it was destiny that led you to choose that path

🤣

Both? ... More towards choice, I think.

Destiny, as in an outer force- Hell no. But I think that for some people, depending on who they are and what they're all about, they could all come out 20 years later on one of their expected paths (bad or good). I like to think that even if I have no idea where I'm going, destiny will have it that I'll see and follow whichever path I want to take. Or something 😕
