Why is this tag allowed? It's clearly a subjective tag. Is somehow the "rape" suddenly insufficient?

I reported it many months ago and haven't seen any action on this.

I'm pretty sure when used in that specific story, it's not a bad thing. You are reading way too much into it.

I agree with you, it should be deleted. "Rape" is enough. And there is nothing called "Rape Isn't Considered a Bad Thing" Tag Allowed"

I brought it up

And... yeah... but you can read the comments.

I mean, maybe if you voice your opinions on that thread, or give a good enough reason to get deleted...

Romanticized rape is a hugely popular kink in shoujo manga and redikomi alike. I'd imagine that some people would like the differentiation between the "... I didn't hate it..." rape and the rape that is used as a serious and heavy/dark plot element.

Though the tag should be used more often and probably changed to "romanticized rape".

Actually, there are many, many hentai works with settings/themes where "Rape Isn't Considered a Bad Thing", it's an actual part of the story, from whatever angle the story is spinning it from.....sometimes it's a "state sponsored" thing where it's over declining birth rates, the mc has to go out and "rape" all the women who've caught the "gonna be horny till they die or get boinked" disease.......all sorts of things where that tag is perfectly valid and of benefit to many readers/people using it to vette titles.

Lighten up a little bit and try keeping in mind other people are here too.

Yes, there's some hentai out there with this twisted mindset. However, the mangas getting labeled with this tag is in the shoujo and yaoi genre. Those stories do not have that twisted mindset. It known as a bad thing, but something that can be forgiven.

The tag really should get removed. There's enough tags with rape, and dubious consent and such to cover what this terribly named tag does. At the very least it should get renamed.

I'm upset about it more from a writer's perspective, and respect for the work.

Yeah, I read your previous comments regarding this topic as well, and with all due respect, you're being overly-sensitive regarding this tag.

It's just a category tag, not some kind of geo-political statement. It describes a significant, fictional story element.......that's all.

And as far as it being misapplied, well, I personally take no stand on that, that's the sort of thing that happens far and wide on tagging, and you know that, vote it down or report it in those specific instances.

You've let this get under your skin and you're trying to take a tag away from others that's just as valid to them as "Glasses-Wearing Male Lead" is to you. For all your attempts at being "sensitive" and "caring", you're the one I'm seeing as a bully right now.

The way I understood it, that tag refers to stories, whether smut, yaoi or hentai, where rape is a romance and/or plot element and not regarded as the horrific crime it is in RL by the characters and/or that particular world. The fact that it's being misused isn't a problem with the tag itself. I've seen a lot of stories which deserve that tag and which I could have avoided if the category had been there.

Don't personally use it, but the more tags there are, the easier it's to spot whatever you want to read. You might have seen those Looking For threads where the poster is asking for some very specific kind of material.

I did not actually know that this tag existed, but I am glad it does. In some stories rape is portrayed as the torture that it is in reality, in others it is portrayed more as fan-service. I like to know which way the manga will portray rape, since I find that anything that portrays rape in a good light loses any believability it may have had. I understand that for many people, anything that contains rape is absolutely unreadable. However, I don't think this tag gets in the way of figuring that out, and it gives more information to others, so I don't really see the problem.

To everyone say "don't use it," you are totally missing the point.

Fact of the matter is, it's a bad tag because it is purely on the opinions of whoever added the tag. I've encountered this tag many times already and read the stories where it's tag. NEVER is rape considered okay in those stories. At best, the rape is not mentioned or glossed over afterwards, but at no point is the rape ever considered "not a bad thing."

What is clearly happening is that someone is reading these rape tagged stories and is either disappointed (or "triggered") that it's not some grim dark mindbreak psychological story.

I am most assuredly not missing absolutely any point here.

What I'm mainly hearing in your post now is mistaggings, and, as I've already mentioned, you should be downvoting them and/or reporting them if you feel that's the case.

After that, again as I've already said, I can show you loooooots of examples of just what this tag is supposed to be being applied to. And yes, most definitely "fiction", they do indeed require quite the "suspension of disbelief", and many, many of them are exceedingly dark (not all of 'em, hey, some of 'em are hilarious frankly 😀 )

None of these things warrants taking away a tag that can and is being used on a site that deals in information for information's sake.

I think the way the tag is worded is a little misguided, but I understand its importance to be honest.

The tag is useful if you're looking for (or avoiding) works where rape is not portrayed negatively, be it via the entire setting the story takes place in or via one or more characters who enable or take part in some kind of rape/sexual abuse and don't see it as a bad thing. This is a big thing in a lot of adult manga, for example, and it differs a lot from manga that just feature rape negatively and as part of a character's development.

However, I acknowledge the problems of this tag existing as well, namely how subjective in nature it can be and thus leading to inappropriate tagging. But then so are plenty of other tags, and in those cases what we do is downvote or report them.

Ultimately I don't think the tag should be removed as the more tags that exist the better something can be identified.
