Gokusen - should fit really well
Someone said Otoyomegatari. Does it fit? I'm not sure, but I'd recommend it anyway.

Quote from Arleea

There's Shinigamihime no Saikon. A lot of people seem to like the heroines attitude on everything that goes on. She's not the type to freak out and dramatize everything but yet still an air head on some situations. Some people also think that the characters are too slow in falling in love.

That was certainly..something, but looking for a more down to earth story/characters.

Seconding Cat Street and Lovely Complex. Awesome manga. Bonnouji is good too. If you like manhwa, I'd suggest Can't See Can't Hear But Love.

Edit: Oh, look, I'm seconding Can't See too. XD Didn't notice that. Art is something important to me, too. How about
Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume
Otoyomeg ...

Thank you but I've read several of those already. I agree that Can't See, Can't Hear fits what I'm looking for very well though.

Otoyomegatari is good in itself, but the story driven more by the culture than the romance and it jumps around a bit with characters.

Found a few Josei stories, that may be worth a look...

The female lead is about to break up with her boyfriend in the beginning, when she meets a new interest, which starts more off as a friend supporting her.

So far it seems like the female lead is about to fall for a guy, that picked her interest because of his attitude in front of her charismatic brother.

  • Kanojoiro no Kanojo - Romance as subplot, but all in all this is just a great storyline, giving off a special feeling and having some great moments of growth.
