Controversial Topics in the Anime/Manga Community - Do you know any?

I'm working on a argumentative research paper for a school project, and I want to do it on something related to anime and manga.
So I thought I'd post here to see if anybody else had a better idea than me, or could add anything to the topics I already have.
Thus far, I've got these kinds of topics...
- Scanlating, which we all know and love but is illegal.
- Censorship, is it right to censor comics?
- Fansubbing, same as scanlating, but people also sell them (generally not with the fansubber's permission) on e-bay.
- Lolicon - pedophilia controversy
- Japanese otaku wanting to legalise marrying 2D characters, in general, obsession with 2d versus real life
- The Americanization of manga by some companies
- illegal bootlegging of products or series
- murder and violence
- Plagiarism
And that's about it.
If you can help me add anything to this list, I would be deeply grateful.

Maybe something on people such as Tazmo? Maybe something on the official translations which would tie in with scanlations. There is also the topic of crunchyroll bringing official subs?

Crunchyroll's bringing official subs? As in, licensed subs? Or are the licensing agencies just using their subs?

Official Subs...the trend was started by GONZO with their series Tower of Druaga and Blassreiter. So far I only know that Naruto also adapted this.
As for other topics...
You could try the one about Japanese otaku wanting to legalize marrying 2D characters ^^;

I obviously don't watch enough anime, since all of this is basically going right over my head.
Would it have something to do with how crunchyroll advertised these series for a while? (I don't know whether they still are)

The Americanization of manga by some companies?

Crunchyroll started advertising them after GONZO contacted them about wanting to make web streaming and download for their products official starting with those two...you can call it either innovation or desperation as GONZO is already having financial problems and planning to sack 75% of it's 130 employees.

Ah, so their attempt to make people want to buy the series? (Thank you)

How about the "Second Hand" kannagi controversy? 😛
That was quite a riot.
Though, personally, I was sorta angry too > 3<

Maybe, though I think I would take a different take with this sort of subject.
I think one of the most controversial topic right now is about the cancellation of Hetalia Axis Powers TV broadcast. It's a really touchy subject from what I've seen so far so it'd be best to just research it yourself rather than talk about it here.

I didn't know about that one, so I'll definitely research it. Thank you for telling me about it though.

I've been following that controversy for awhile, so I think probably one the best places to learn more about it is here (bottom to top, oldest to newest): http://www.sankakucomplex.com/tag/hetalia/
You can also try ANN, but it is kinda "Ehhh..." in regards to the effort of correct information and in-depth there about this topic...
Also, I think you should add Kodomo no Jikan (as an example) to the lolicon-censorship thing, it was a pretty big issue a year ago. 😃
And maybe about how certain Japanese television channels delaying showing new episodes of violent anime due to mass murder of parents by children; eg. School Days, etc.
Oh, and the fake-bootlegs (merchandise, figurines) people get scammed into buying can be added too.
edit, added stuff
Sorry about the bad grammar, I'm writing in a rush... ^^;;
