As I recall, Anime was recently calculated to be like... 25% of Wiki searches, making it the largest category behind "general research" or something like that.

Anidb, ANN & Anfo & Anime Planet for Anime, obvious ones.

For Manga mainly Manga Updates. Also use ANN, Wiki & Scanlation Team Sites.

I guess for the most part MU and also AnimeNewsNetwork (AnswerMan is fun to read and The Click is essential - so I know when anime might be showing I can Tivo. Most recently, I found out Twnjo Tenge and Ergo Proxy is showing on a channel called Fuse, and I get this one!). There are other sites I look at occasionally, as well as several sites for the US manga publishers sometimes to see what's going on. And I guess DiscountAnimeDVD might count, because I can see what manga volumes are coming on the market of series I read.

Mostly I just find stuff on MU, because I visit it every day. And then, if it doesn't have something that I want to know, I got to animenewsnetwork.com and wikipedia.
