I haven't read great tons of her works. But if your looking for a smut manga that isn't yaoi she does have large collection. Her art overall is okay, I do think she makes some of her male characters faces a little small and kind of pointed, and I'm not a big fan of the girls that have little girl faces and hair but a porn star body (just a personal opinion). But over all her art does keep up with trends. In reference to her stories, they do have there good points; there well told and keep you wondering. Bad points once you read a couple of her series the stories become a little repetitive and predicable, also has the whole main male lead rapes virgin female lead, then female lead falls in love with male lead.
Over all I will read some of her series but I have to be in a certain mood.
In reference to comparison to Yuki Yoshihara and Shinjo Mayu both stories are unrealistic some more then others. Yuki Yoshihara is more comedy based but Shinjo Mayu is more drama. I personally prefer Yuki Yoshihara art because her characters proportions are better.

Excuse me for a second.

BWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH~!

Talk about hilarious! But to be serious, I can honestly say that I detest most of her series. Though I find Ai wo Utau Yori Ore ni Oborero! rather tolerable. This is purely due to the fact that the female lead looks like a hot male lead though. Hell, the male lead himself is pretty hot when he isn't faking cuteness. 🙄

No, I do not. I quite simply prefer far more depth in my characters and stories. 🙂 I also prefer topics of rape to be handled with far more thought and sensitivity and so forth.

For smut, I prefer Yoshihara Yuki... so crazy and funny. 🙂

If you didn't seem so sincere I'd think you were being sarcastic.
There are SO many threads where Shinjo Mayu has been smashed to smithereens.
Especially in the "Looking for" section.

Personally, most of her stories are the same to me. Rape=Love. Not that I don't mind it but it really does get old. She has some nice stuff but... I dunno. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
It would be like telling someone to drink pop everyday. It's nice, but has no real value.
She is like a guilty pleasure... like the Jonas Brothers
...Whom I hate but Lovebug was just too damn catchy. D:

Oh and her latest works seem to have a lot of promise.

I've read a few of her series in the past, but now I just loathe her. <__<

Blaue Rosen just weirded me out, which is probably one of the main reasons.
And, in my opinion, Love Celeb was annoying and repetitive. I haven't even read Haou Airen yet (and don't plan on it).

When Shinjo draws Gundam stuff, my heart sinks.

Like I said before, this thing is purely subjective. There are people who like her and her works and there are people who don't. For me, I love her works....It's kind of a form of a guilty pleasure to me. I read her works to kill some time. 😀

Too... "rapey"... for my tastes, I'm afraid. I'll have to pass.

Can't you all see the drawings alone are really bad? 😔

Her series are too stupid and her females too retarded for my taste. Forget the rape, I can't even get over how dumb and annoying she makes some of her characters. And her art isn't that amazing that it'd make me forget how stupid the rest of her drivel is.

But I suppose some people desperate for smut would be satisfied with anything shrug

Her old works aren't so great but her recent ones are really awesome!! Like, Heart no Diamond and Goshimei desu! The drawings are much better and so is the story line.

Love Celeb was good though... 😀

Well, I liked Haou Airen so I just put "I guess so" in the poll, but the rest was okay... I'm not very in love with her drawings or her stories or anything. She's "okay" in my book.

I dislike her stories so much that I've read almost everything she's written. (Avoiding Haou Airen; can't see her writing tragedy.) Her art is just so-so -- no backgrounds; the guys all look alike, but they are good looking; and the girls all look alike, but they are soo cute!. Plots are too rapey, as someone else said, but sometimes the girls are the aggressors. My favorite is Akuma na Eros, which I thought was hysterical, perhaps unintentionally so, but I'm not sure about that. Shinjo-sensei may have been winking at us.
Check out this pic for an example.

This comment is insulting to those of us who enjoy well-written smut, and if you think that there isn't any, you're not looking in the right places.

Hm, I haven't read any of her works because I kind of avoid smut, especially of the rapey variety, but Ai wo Utau Yori Ore ni Oborero! looks fun. I think I'll try it out.
