Hmm my first manga was Love Hina, a friend of mine let me borrow it. I ended up buying the whole series a month later.
On a side note the first anime I watched that I knew was anime was Rurouni Kenshin.

Weeeeiiird. My first shounen manga was the second volume of Ranma 1/2 too. The first volume had a huge waitlist at the library, so I just went ahead and read the second volume.
For anime, I'm not sure. My first shounen anime might have been Gundam Wing or Yu Yu Hakusho.

The first shounen anime that I actually sat down and watched was Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. It was on in the morning when I was getting ready for school. After that, I started watching Naruto on Cartoon Network, which led to my first shounen manga...
The first shounen chapter I read was Naruto. I had heard about the time skip, and wanted to see what happened in the first chapter. I read several other shounen over the next week, while I struggled to avoid too many spoilers for Naruto. So, the first shounen I read from the beginning to the current chapter was Kekkaishi (sounded interesting).
